MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND, VOLUME 2 - Season 3 Episode 36
John stayed in the VIP ward. Except for the smell of disinfectant, the room did not look or feel like a ward but like a nice apartment.
John had a big bed covered with gray sheets and quilt. The entire room was carpeted with a leisure area and a tea room.
Helen cooked dishes John and Nina liked and sent them to the hospital every day.
At night, Richard stood guard outside John’s door.
On the other hand, Amy and Lena stayed to watch North Yard.
John had asked Henry to investigate Albert’s spy in Time Group.
He had also asked Brian to do a check-up on Nina and do a neurological examination on her.
He had also asked Brian to do a check-up on Nina and do a neurological examination on her.
Nina underwent the examination obediently, and the results came back normal.
She had some bruises and a few marks all over her body. There were even a few snake bites.
“Are you sure she’s okay?” Even though the physical examination report showed that Nina was all right, John still felt uneasy.
Brian simply nodded and replied, “According to the results, there is indeed no problem. As for the drug you mentioned that can modify a person’s memory, I think it’s a little far-fetched.
Human memory is directly associated with emotions, which change a lot. It’s very difficult to create and develop any drug to replace or modify memory. Of course it’s not impossible, but it’ll take time.”
“But it’s still possible.” John spoke in a low voice, his eyes becoming deep. Deep inside, he felt that this might have something to do with him.
The strange dream Nina mentioned had something to do with him.
Brian sighed and nodded. “Yes, it is, but believe me when I say that that drug will not come into existence in our lifetime. Its creation alone will take decades.”
After a long while, John said, “Nina must be examined once a week, and you must report the results to me.”
“All right. Consider it done.” Then, Brian left.
Nina had been listening to their discussion without saying anything. After Brian left, she crawled into bed and rested her head on John’s chest, comforting him.
Deep inside, it was also her way of comforting herself.
“Don’t worry. Brian is a well-known doctor. If he says that there is no such drug in the world and that it’s difficult to develop, I believe him. Besides, how could Albert succeed so easily?”
John nodded but still felt worried.
‘I hope he’s right,’ he thought.
The next morning, Henry brought his assistant to the hospital.
“Mr. and Mrs. Shi, are you feeling better?” The assistant smiled gently, but she looked at John and Nina as if she was exploring something.
She did not understand why John asked her to come.
She felt that something was off.
Her heart fluttered at the thought of John finally finding out who she really was.
She shook off the thought. It was impossible. She did nothing to give herself away.
“What can I do for you today, Mr. Shi?” The assistant took the initiative to speak. She bowed slightly and looked at John respectfully.
In truth, the assistant was an ordinary person. She did not have excellent working abilities or an outstanding appearance. She did not even want to know about the confidential documents of the company.
She looked loyal and honest.
That was why she could be a good spy.
John raised his head and looked at the assistant. He said, “I promoted you because my wife said you were a careful person. You knew that I didn’t like it when others touched my things, so you smartly wrapped the box with tissue and put my pen in it.”

The assistant was stunned. It was the first time that she had heard John utter so many words in front of her, but he was still as cold as before and not gentle at all.
The assistant did not understand why John was bringing up this matter. She pretended to be calm and said, “Thank you for that, Mrs. Shi. Thank you for your promotion, Mr. Shi. I will continue to try my best…”
“Try your best to send messages to Albert?” John glanced at her with disdain, and his lazy tone was full of toughness and conviction.
He was sure that the assistant was Albert’s spy.
The assistant slightly lowered her head to prevent John from seeing her expressions. Her face turned pale, and her hands and feet trembled.
She was thinking how John knew about that.
She was scared.
Still, she tried her best to look calm. She bowed slightly and answered, “I think you have misunderstood me, Mr. Shi.”
With a scornful smile, John kept silent.
Henry then said, “We’ve been suspecting you for a long time, but at one point, someone deliberately made us think that Mrs. Shi was the spy. When Mr. Shi went to Blue Mountain, we found out that Mrs. Shi was not in Albert’s payroll. So we paid attention to you again.
In order to verify his guess, Mr. Shi asked me to tell you the number of people who would be storming Blue Mountain. We sent forty-one people in total, and you informed Albert about them.
Besides, few people know that Mrs. Shi is an international hacker. I deliberately threw that information your way, too, and you also told Albert about it.
These can’t be coincidences. According to our research, you’re an orphan. You were living in an orphanage when a person named Linn took you in and took care of you. Linn had worked as a nanny for the Song family. Albert calls her Aunt Linn. They have a very good relationship, like mother and son. Albert still supports her to this day.”
The assistant’s face was now as white as paper. Realizing that her identity had been exposed, she slowly raised her head.
She looked completely different from the way she usually looked.
“Now that you know, go ahead and punish me.” Like everyone in the city, the assistant knew of John’s capacity for cruelty and understood that something bad would happen to her if she was discovered.
But she had no regrets.
She owed Albert and Linn. Without them, she would have died when she was very young.
She had lived long enough, and she was happy to meet her end knowing that she had repaid those who had saved her life.
“Get her out of my sight.” John waved his hand, and Richard took the assistant away.
Looking at the fearlessness in the assistant’s face, Nina could not help feeling a little conflicted. Albert was indeed a paranoid and dark person. He had suffered from the pain caused by his family.
However, there were always people who were willing to work hard for him such as Ford.
The assistant knew that she had been discovered, but she was not afraid at all. She even seemed ready to die.
Also, there was Linn who loved Albert so deeply. Even though Albert was a stubborn child, she still tried her best to teach him well and treat him like her own son.
And then there was Kristina who helped him get away with a crime by sinking a fruit knife into her stomach and dying for him. She did it for him although she was afraid of pain.
Thinking of what Kristina had done before her death, Nina felt her heart splinter.
Albert was not a bad guy. He was just born into a bad family.
As Nina was thinking, her eyes started misting over. Then, Henry received a phone call. After hanging up the phone, he frowned and said, “Mr. Shi, Albert Song is dead.”
“What?” Nina felt a catch in her throat. John indicated Henry to go on.
“He killed himself with the same fruit knife that killed Kristina. He was found dead beside her body.” A note of sadness flashed through Henry’s eyes. He felt sad for Kristina.
Kristina had tried her best to help Albert survive, but Albert ultimately chose to die with her.
In the end, Albert failed to live up to Kristina’s expectations.
