MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND, VOLUME 2 - Season 3 Episode 34
When John woke up, it was already the evening of his second hospital day.
The evening wind was gently blowing outside, making the trees dance against the thin clouds. The sky bled red and orange in the wake of the setting sun, bathing John’s hospital suite in lovely golden light.
Lying on the edge of the bed, Nina curled in a ball, sleeping peacefully.
She had waited all night for John to regain consciousness. At dawn, when he still did not wake up, she anxiously rushed out and called the doctor.
The doctor comforted her and said that she had to wait. John was badly injured and needed a lot of sleep to get back his strength, so Nina waited and eventually fell asleep.
That noon, James rushed over and found Nina looking pained and filthy. He quickly dragged her away and took her to a doctor who then treated her wounds and prescribed her some medicine.
Now, Nina was all cleaned up and bandaged and wearing a brown dress. The light of sunset illuminated her face, making it blush a little.
As John tried to sit up, he felt a sharp pain stab his waist.
“Uncle John?” Right on cue, James pushed the door open. He saw John struggle to sit up and miserably fail. John gritted his teeth with the effort.
He immediately lay back. It knocked the wind right out of his lungs.
James hurried over with a worried look on his face. “Uncle John, you…” he started, but John silenced him.
“Shh!” John signaled to him not to disturb Nina who was sleeping at his feet. James lowered his voice in response.
“You’re finally awake,” he whispered, excitement and relief apparent in his voice.
James’ eyes were a little red. Seeing that John took a long time to wake up, he thought that he was about to lose him forever.
“Yes. Don’t worry, I’m fine.” Knowing that James was frightened, John tried his best to be kind.
It was rare for James to see John be nice to him. As a result, his eyes started misting over again.
John must have broken his mind by accident.
“I’m so glad you’re already out of the woods, Uncle John. Aunt Nina and I were so worried about you. Aunt Nina even said that if something happened to you, she would remarry.” In truth, Nina only said that she would remarry in hopes of waking John up.
However, John did not even flinch. His eyelids did not even flutter. Although it frustrated Nina, she only hoped with all her heart that her husband was okay and would wake up soon.
However, James heard what she said clearly.
He was so terrified of Nina running away with another man that he almost jumped on his uncle to wake him up.
How dare she?” John muttered. The expression on his face darkened, but his voice was pitifully low. He was afraid of waking his wife up. She had been through a lot. She needed to rest.
“I can’t get up. Can you carry her and set her down beside me?” John pulled the thin quilt off his body and handed it to James. “Wrap her with this.”
Thinking about the doctor’s words, James stopped John and said, “Uncle John, your hips still need to recover. Don’t think about that thing for now.”
John blinked and felt his throat dry up. ‘What am I thinking about?’ he thought. Then, John realized what James meant. He glared at him and said, “Just do as I say. Don’t talk so much nonsense.”
“Yes, sir.” James wrapped Nina with the quilt as John instructed, carefully lifted her up, and set her down beside John. As soon as Nina touched the bed, her eyelids flew open.
She rubbed her eyes and let her sight adjust to the face of the man before her. When she realized that she was lying beside John who was now awake and well, she almost jumped with joy. “You’re awake! Thank goodness! Are you okay? How are you feeling?”
“I’m fine.” John reached out his hand and touched Nina’s face, which was still a little red and swollen. A ruthless look flashed across his distressed eyes.
One day, he would make sure that Isabella paid for what she had done. Although John said he was fine, Nina still found it difficult to believe. She looked him up and down for a while and felt a little relieved when she saw that he was indeed okay.
Then, she wondered how she got beside him.
She remembered falling asleep on the edge of the bed.
She blinked and asked, “Did you carry me over to your side?”
After a pause, John said calmly, “Yes.” James was speechless.
‘Uncle John is so shameless!’ he thought, shaking his head.
“Great!” With joy and excitement in her eyes, Nina jumped into her husband’s arms. She put her arm around his waist and rested her head against his chest.
She pressed her body against his, wanting desperately to feel his warmth. “The doctor said that you injured your hips badly and that you wouldn’t be able to exercise for at least a week. But you just carry me over to your side, which means that your hips are fine. You recovered in one day.”
The moment Nina pounced on John, James heard a faint pop.
He felt his heart leap to his throat and then found himself smiling. ‘You must suffer for your lies, Uncle John,’ he mused.

The expression on John’s face froze. He couldn’t believe it.
It would take at least a week for him to recover?
And he could not do any exercises?
Sadness slowly crept on John’s face. Because of his current condition, some of his plans would have to be postponed.
John threw a glance toward James, indicating him to leave the room.
James dipped his chin in acknowledgement and went out quietly. Nina did not notice his presence at all because she was too overwhelmed by the happiness of seeing John awake again.
“You scared me to death,” Nina murmured. She savored every drop of relief she felt at the moment. In truth, she thought they would not survive. Recalling what she and her husband had been through, she shivered.
If it were not for that plank, John would have taken the full impact of the fall and broken every bone in his body.
John gently stroked Nina’s hair and rested his chin on top of her head. He put one hand on the small of her back.
“Call me honey,” he whispered.
John’s velvety voice made Nina’s skin tingle. Her face turned bright red. When she called John honey after he saved her, it was in the heat of the moment. Now that they were both safe, she felt that calling him honey was a little awkward.
“Well… can you please wait?”
“No, I can’t wait.” John smiled, ignored the pain in his hips, and held Nina tighter.
Hiding in his arms, Nina pursed her lips and felt a little thirsty.
“Let me get ready first.”
John raised his eyebrows and said, “You have three seconds.”
“One minute.” Nina raised her head and stretched out a white, slender finger at John.
Her rosy face was as beautiful as the sunset, and her eyes shone with the kind of light that stirred something primal in him.
How he itched so much to wet her slightly dry lips!
But John was afraid that he would not be able to control himself and injure himself further, trying to quench the thirst of his flesh. If he got hurt now, he would not be able to teach his wife some lessons in the future.
“Two seconds,” John bargained. He pressed Nina’s head against his chest once again.
Nuzzled against his chest, Nina murmured, “Thirty seconds.”
John did not bargain anymore. After pausing for about thirty seconds, he patted her on the waist.
He liked his little girl’s waist. It was so slander.
“It’s thirty seconds. Let’s hear it.” He loosened his grip on her and let her look up at him. Nina moved a little but did not speak.
She took a little while before she raised her head and looked straight into John’s eyes.
Her man was pushing her on purpose. In a moment, like a kitten, Nina slowly and deliberately rubbed her head against John’s neck and purred in his ear, “Honey.”
Nina’s voice was lazy and sultry, and it almost drove John out of his wits. She raised her hand and started tracing circles on his chest.
“Honey.” John paused for a moment and then spoke in a hoarse voice.
His little girl almost killed him when she called him honey.
He grabbed her hand and kissed it. His eyes burned with a small flame as they darted from her lips to her eyes and then back again. “Honey, let’s have a baby.” Nina blinked, slowly smiled, and answered, “Okay.”
Then, she took the initiative to kiss John passionately.
In the heat of the moment, John wanted to take the lead. When he was about to roll over and press his wife on the bed, his hips made another crisp, popping sound.
John gnashed his teeth together to keep himself from screaming. His hips hurt so badly that he blacked out for a second.
He could not do anything with his wife at the moment.
Before lying on his back again, he planted a soft kiss on Nina’s lips and said, “Maybe not today, honey. We’re still injured. We need to heal first.”
