MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND, VOLUME 2 - Season 3 Episode 28
Nina and John patiently waited in the storage room for their moment to escape.
John’s men were already waiting for them outside as well.
Their chances of escaping were looking very good right now.
Albert wanted them to stay here for a few days, and would let them go after that.
But John couldn’t wait any longer. He wasn’t sure what Albert had fed Nina or what he’d done to her.
He had to take Nina to the hospital to make sure everything was all right. John sat thinking about what he needed to do when his concentration was broken by a groan from Nina’s belly.
She couldn’t hide it. She was clearly starving.
She sat there with an embarrassed look on her face. John raised his eyebrows and pinched her face, saying, “We’ll go out to eat as soon as we leave here.”
“But I’m hungry now.” Nina touched her belly, and suddenly realized that she still had a lollipop left. She reached into her pocket and pulled it out. “How could I forget? I still have a lollipop.”
As soon as she tore wrapper off, a sweet aroma floated out and filled the room. She was about to put it into her mouth when she hesitated. Then she pushed it into John’s.
John didn’t have much of a sweet tooth but he accepted it as this was from Nina. The sweet and sour taste instantly made him feel much more refreshed.
He tasted every little flavor, realizing that this was no ordinary cheap lollipop. It was definitely something special.
“This lollipop is incredibly refreshing,” John said, taking the lollipop out of his mouth, impressed.
Nina raised her eyebrows. “You’re so smart. I discovered this after a long while.”
“Where did you get the lollipop from?” John assumed that her lollipops had to be handcrafted by some confectioner. If he got the information he was looking for, maybe he could also find out more about Nina’s past.
“It’s from Noah.” Nina took the lollipop back. “If you’re not going to eat it, I’ll eat it myself.”
Noah again!
John was beginning to really hate him. Was Noah trying to lure his little girl with a lollipop?
“Give it to me.” John grabbed the lollipop and put it in his mouth. After a few crunches, he chewed and swallowed it. Nina was speechless.
‘John must really like lollipops.
I should buy a whole box and give it to him.’
It was getting late. The crescent moon hung in the sky surrounded by a sea of stars, blinking in the dark abyss.
Blue Mountain was remote and quiet, filled by the sound of insects. As the breeze blew, it rustled the trees making a melodious symphony from the leaves.
There was a lake in the area as well called Blue Lake.
There was a pavilion in the middle of the lake, surrounded by gauze and bonny flowers. The flowerpots beside the lake were filled with roses, with the light pink tint lighting up the whole lake. It gave this mysterious scenery a much warmer touch.
There was a transparent ice coffin in the middle of the pavilion. There was a cold aura radiating from it, and the person lying in it was none other than Kristina.
Albert stood beside the ice coffin, wearing a well cut suit and his slick hair. He stood nobly in the pavilion.
He put on a black wedding dress for Kristina and bent down to draw her eyebrows and kiss her.
He used to do this a lot, because Kristina would occasionally read some affectionate poems like “drawing your eyebrows and be together with you for the rest of my life.”

Sometimes she would ask Albert to draw eyebrows for her. At first, he couldn’t get the hang of it, but Kristina didn’t care and was always overjoyed.
Gradually, Albert became more and more capable of doing this for her and he learnt more or less about other things as well.
After he put some makeup on her, she looked like the beautiful bride she should have been.
“Ford, what do you think of Kristina?” he asked in a soft voice.
“Great.
She must like it very much,” said Ford.
Albert seemed to hear Kristina’s praise and smiled gently. “I’m glad she’d like it. Ford, where do you want to go in the future?” Albert glanced at Ford before continuing to stare at Kristina.
Ford was stunned for a moment, not knowing what Albert meant. “There’s no place I have in mind right now.”
“If you don’t have a place to go, then you can go protect Evelyn when you’re done with the tasks I’ve given you. She’s too much of a pushover and she is the only one in the family that’s ever been good to me.” Evelyn Song was Albert’s little sister. She was only twelve years old.
Ford didn’t answer so Albert continued, “Have you contacted the lawyer? Have you done what I told you?”
“Don’t worry, sir. Everything is done.”
“That’s good.” Albert turned around and looked at the endless night. His eyes were as calm as a pool of stagnant water, while his heart matched the serenity.
“After Dr. Wendy analyzes the effects, side effects and dos and don’ts of M.C., give the report to Noah. That’s the last thing I can do for Noah and Kristina.
Then, you can dismiss the research team and pay them off to keep them quiet.
Also when you get a moment, I need you to get some snakes and trap Isabella in a room with them. Make sure they’re not poisonous though.
And… Actually, forget it. It’s okay.” Albert sighed and continued to stare out into the night.
“Yes, sir.” Ford looked at Albert, feeling as if his boss was saying his last words. Surely it was impossible. Albert’s dream was to become the ruler of Lexingport City. He would never think of suicide, right?
It might have been his dream but it all changed when Kristina became his focus. All he wanted was to make her live a good life.
He failed though.
Not only did he fail, but he also cut her life short.
“You can go to have a rest now. I want some time alone with Kristina.”
After Ford left, Albert stood beside the coffin. His eyes flooded with tears.
“Kristina, it’s me who pulled you into this abyss.” He spoke and tried to make peace with himself. “Do you know why I built Blue Lake? You said you wanted a house by a lake in the forest and that you wanted to live the rest of your days there. Let’s stay at Blue Mountain from now on.”
As the breeze blew, the lake rippled. Albert began to reminisce of the first time they met. It was exactly like this and the coincidences made his heart pound.
Over the years his heart no longer beat to gentle ripples, but rather started crashing like waves. The more his heart raced, the more violent the waves became, ultimately hurting those around him.
It was time to get back to peace.
Albert continued, “Kristina, whether it’s here or the afterlife, we will be together.” He raised his eyes and looked at the sparse stars. He whispered softly but he liked to believe that Kristina had heard him.
Maybe if she heard him, she would wait for him.
