MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND, VOLUME 2 - Season 3 Episode 25
Following Albert to the largest laboratory in the complex, Nina kept vigilant all the way. She would not put it past him to play a trick on her now that she had agreed to speak to him privately.
But no matter how careful she was, she still found herself losing consciousness and falling into Albert’s arms.
“Dr. Wendy, use the drug on her.” He set her on the lab bed gently.
Wendy frowned and asked, “Are you sure you want to try the new drug on a human right away? We still don’t know how M.C. works. We don’t know its potential side effects. If we do human trials now, I’m afraid something bad and unfixable will happen.”
“We have no time,” Albert snapped. He asked Ford to bring Kristina’s body here, accidentally alerting Noah. He was sure that Noah would walk through the front door any second now.
He had to test the new drug on Nina before Noah showed up, and then he would take Kristina’s body abroad.
Wendy did not understand why Albert was in such a hurry, but thinking that her life’s work was about to be introduced to the world, she itched to test it. “Very well. It’s more intuitive to use human beings in drug trials than animals.
Hurry up. Let’s get to work.” Wendy ordered her staff to prepare the subject and start the trial.
Bulky machines were rolled in around Nina, and Wendy and her team started sticking wires into her skull and torso.
They needed to pry into her subconscious memory and then feed her with M.C. to modify it.
M.C. was a colorless, odorless liquid stored in a bottle. Isabella helped Wendy put two drops of M.C. in a glass of water. Her fingertips tingled with excitement as she pinched Nina’s nose and tilted her head back.
She was about to dump the solution into Nina’s mouth when Albert stopped her. She looked at him with frustrated eyes.
“Let me do it.” With a frown, Albert pushed Isabella aside. He gently opened Nina’s mouth and carefully poured the drug in.
Then, he grabbed a tissue and wiped the excess liquid that spilled out of the corner of Nina’s mouth. He smiled weakly.
Isabella clenched her fists so hard that her long nails dug into her palms. She could not catch a break. Previously, it had been Kristina. Now it was Nina. The jealousy and frustration were starting to drive her insane.
‘Kristina is dead.
You’re next, Nina,’ she thought bitterly. “All right, we’re all set. Which part of her memory would you like to modify, George?” Wendy stared at the beeping screen in front of her. She rubbed her palms together to keep them from shaking. She was so excited. She was about to find out if her years of hard work had paid off.
Albert remembered that Kristina had always been concerned about Noah’s marriage. He knew that Noah liked Nina, so he answered resolutely, “Her emotional memory.
Change the object of her conscious emotional memory to Noah.”
When Nina woke up, she was lying in John’s arms.
The first thing she saw when she opened her eyes was John’s worried face.
“You’re finally awake.” John held Nina even tighter, still feeling uneasy.
Nina had gone out of the storage room on her own two feet, but she was brought back unconscious.
John was shocked to see her in that state and asked Albert what happened. Albert told him that Nina had fainted because she had been growing weak.
John remembered the last time he saw Nina. He had locked her up at home and had not given her anything to eat. As a result, she experienced some dizziness and ingested laxatives. He took her to the hospital, but before she could fully recover, she ran away again.
The lack of food and proper rest might have finally taken its toll on her.
But still, John was dubious.
“How are you feeling? Are you in pain?” John reached out his hand and touched Nina’s forehead. Her temperature was normal.
Color had started flowing into her cheeks as if nothing had happened.
The more Nina returned to normal, the more uneasy John felt.
Nina reached out and touched John’s face. She answered in a soft, comforting voice, “I’m fine. I fainted out there, but I’m okay now.”
She knitted her brows slightly. She did not understand why she suddenly fainted while following Albert. She could not remember anything that happened before she blacked out.

The next thing she remembered after fainting was seeing John’s anxious face.
“I had a dream, a very strange dream.” A vague picture appeared in Nina’s mind. Someone was walking toward her.
“What happened in your dream?” John asked curiously. He had no idea what she had encountered in the half hour that she was not in the storage room with him. Thinking about the unknown, he felt an awful sense of helplessness loom over him.
He also remembered that Albert was working on a new drug that apparently just achieved completion. He asked Nina again, “What’s the dream about? How much do you remember?”
Nina shifted on John’s lap and started concentrating to remember.
“I’m not sure if it’s a room or an open field, but it’s foggy. You’re there standing next to me and holding my hand. Then, a figure started approaching. I wasn’t able to recognize whose it was at first, but as it came closer, I felt like I knew him. I felt like he looked like you.”
“He looked like you?” John’s eyes darkened.
“Not you exactly.” Nina shook her head, hoping some of the confusion would fall out. “He had your face, but he didn’t feel like you. I don’t know. It’s so weird.”
Nina frowned and started massaging her temples. She didn’t understand why she had such a strange dream.
John was afraid that his wife would be trapped in her head if she thought too much. He held her closer and more tightly and whispered in her ear, “Forget it. It’s just a dream. It doesn’t mean anything. Calm your mind now.”
Nina sniffed John’s shirt. She had always found her husband’s scent comforting. She let herself sink into his arms and murmured, “Okay.”
She took a few deep breaths and started feeling better. Her mind gradually quieted down.
John desperately held onto her. After all this was over, he would take Nina to the hospital and stay with her until she was fully recovered. He would never let her out of his sight.
The two snuggled up to each other and waited for the night to come.
Just before the clock struck seven, the door of the storage room swung open. Isabella stood at the door.
Nina and John looked at each other, the look in their eyes showing the same level of vigilance. They had to watch out for anything out of the ordinary. Albert’s people knew how to play tricks.
“Come on. You’re being transferred to another room,” Isabella grumbled. There was a suspicious glint in her eyes. The usual disdain and mockery were there, but there was another thing John could not put his finger on.
If it was anticipation or even excitement, he could not tell.
But Isabella looked like she was looking forward to seeing a good show.
A sinister smile tugged on the corner of Isabella’s lips. Nina had taken the M.C. If the experiment was successful, Nina would forget John and love Noah.
‘I can’t wait to see the look on John’s face when Nina sees Noah,’ Isabella mused.
John and Nina followed Isabella to a leisure area. The feel of the room was quite warm, and the Pink Panther toy perched on the sofa was particularly conspicuous.
Noah was sitting on the sofa as well, looking energetic with his short hair. His face was ruddy now, replacing the bone-white paleness that had been there when he saw Kristina’s dead body.
When Noah saw Nina and John come in, he stood up and told Albert, “I hope you can keep your word. Let them go, and I’ll let you have Kristina’s body. Just please give her a proper burial. I don’t want my aunt to be stored in an ice box.
Even if you made the best ice coffin in the world for her, it wouldn’t bring her back. She’d still be dead.”
Hearing Noah’s words, the smile on Albert’s face receded. Sadness flashed through his eyes. He simply nodded and agreed, “You have my word.”
When Nina heard that Noah was going to let Albert go with Kristina’s body, anger flared in her chest. She marched toward Noah and confronted him.
“What are you doing, Noah? Albert murdered Kristina. You can’t let him go. I won’t let you.”
As soon as Nina finished her words, Albert averted his gaze. He said nothing.
The room fell into utter and complete silence.
After a while, Noah said in a hoarse voice, “Albert didn’t kill Aunt Kristina. I was able to confirm that she committed suicide.”
“What?” Disbelief twisted Nina’s features. The first thing that came into her mind was that Albert had brainwashed Noah into thinking that he had nothing to do with Kristina’s death. But even Albert looked up in surprise. “What did you just say? Kristina killed herself?”
