MY UNKNOWN HUSBAND, VOLUME 2 - Season 3 Episode 21
At a street in the northern suburbs, there was a Rolls-Royce current parked on the side.
Inside the car was John, Richard and Henry. Richard was the driver while Henry sat in the passenger seat.
The three men were currently waiting for Albert to arrive.
The silence in the car would be deafening if not for the sound of Henry’s keyboard clicking. With the laptop on his lap, Nina’s watch was placed on top of it.
“Mr. Shi, it turns out that Mrs. Shi’s watch is actually a powerful tracking device. Albert requires you to be alone with your eyes covered in order for him to take you there. For your safety, we need you to put on Mrs. Shi’s watch so we will be able to confirm your position.”
Henry turned around and handed the watch over to the man in the back seat. John took one last puff of smoke from his cigarette, then took off the watch he was currently wearing to put Nina’s on. It was evident in his eyes that he had mixed feelings about the plan.
Earlier before noon time, John reached out to Albert’s men. He demanded to see Nina in person.
John wanted to see the heartless little girl with his own eyes.
The truth was that he missed her so much.
He didn’t know what he would get from visiting her. Perhaps it was just as what Albert had told him. Maybe Nina didn’t really want to be with him.
John was hoping for something such as an unexpected answer. As long as Nina would come back to him, he didn’t care if she wanted to continue to be a spy.
Was it a big deal that Nina was after his money?
John believed that he would make money faster than Nina would squander his money.
John had finally made up his mind. He swore to himself that he would be taking her back to North Yard no matter what. He didn’t care what method he would end up using on her. His main priority was to get her to come back with him.
That was all that he wanted. He needed to take Nina back.
“Mr. Shi, they’re here.” Richard looked around diligently. Albert’s Maserati was too conspicuous, especially the plate number.
As soon as John got out of the car, Albert handed him a black cloth. “Mr. Shi, please keep your promise.”
All of a sudden, everything was dark around John. He was slowly guided to their destination while the black fabric covered his eyes. His hearing had become more sensitive. The sounds around him were louder than the usual.
John fumbled into the car. After closing the door, Albert glanced over to Richard and Henry. “You have to leave first.” Richard obediently drove the car away, leaving John with Albert.
However, Albert was still more cautious. He made detours around the north of the city to avoid being followed.
“As long as I’m fine, my people won’t follow me. Take me to see her,” John said.
Albert smirked. “You’re indeed a smart person, Mr. Shi. Even though you aren’t able to see right now, you still have noticed that I have been driving around.
It’s not that I don’t believe you, but that I only believe in myself.” His signature fake smile was still plastered on his face, but his eyes turned sinister every time he glanced at the man in the back seat through the rear-view mirror.
He would definitely not let John return that easily.
It would take at least five days to finish the research and development of M.C.
John’s men wouldn’t be able to get in even if they have found the location of the laboratory. John and Nina wouldn’t be getting out either.
Albert circled around the area two more times before he headed to the direction of the abandoned factory. He was met by Ford who had been waiting for them to arrive.
Ford led John into the factory. They took the elevator and went down to the underground laboratory.
John had undergone a full body scan. They tried to search him for a weapon or tracker, but the machine did not find anything.
He tried to hide the smirk on his face. Nina was indeed really capable. The high tech instrument couldn’t even detect the watch she had refitted herself.
However, John wasn’t entirely sure how accurate the tracker was.
He knew from the start that Albert wouldn’t be letting him go easily.
Still, this did not faze him at all. He continued to enter deep into the chamber of the enemy.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained. That was his motto. He thought of how he would be able to take Nina away without ending up being tricked by Albert.
Seeing that there was no problem, Albert plastered a bright smile on his face. Then, he became serious as he told his story to John.
“Nina is a very responsible woman. Since she knew that she had failed her mission, she felt very guilty and locked herself in the storage room to do some reflection. Would you want to see her inside the storage room or do you want me to ask her to come out and see you?”
Albert’s voice was very calm and composed. John couldn’t see his expression and could only judge by the way he had spoken.
However, John frowned at the thought of Nina being in the storage room.

How could anyone live inside a storage room?
John pictured Nina hiding by the trash can. It was no surprise that she had chosen the storage room instead.
At least the storage room didn’t have the stench of rotten garbage.
Albert acted like he was hesitant. “It seems that Nina doesn’t want to stay with you, so she doesn’t want to come out and see you. I think you’d better go to the storage room in person.”
“Okay.” There was no trace of hesitation in John’s words.
Albert raised his eyebrows at John’s immediate compliance.
He couldn’t help but wonder how deep John was in love with Nina.
Then, a small smirk formed on his lips. That would actually be even better. As soon as Nina takes M.C., the memory of the man that she loved would no longer be John.
The deeper the feelings John had for Nina, the more painful it would be for him.
It was just similar to how Albert felt. Albert’s eyes were dull and lifeless as he thought of Kristina’s death.
The sadness had kept on spreading towards his whole being.
John tilted his head slightly at Albert’s unusual behavior.
“Here we are,” Albert said. They had finally arrived at the corridor of the laboratory and a heavy iron door was in front of them.
The creak of the metal echoed throughout the hall. Ford opened the door slowly.
The strong smell of chemicals filled their noses. It was sharp and pungent.
John felt disappointed and his lips formed a small scowl.
His little girl would rather stay there than at North Yard.
“Let’s go inside.” Albert finally took off the black fabric that was covering John’s eyes.
Since John had been in the dark for quite a while, he was used to being in the dark. He squinted at his surroundings, trying to find Nina.
He stepped inside and walked in by himself.
As soon as he was able to enter, the door behind him closed.
There was no hint of surprise at John’s reaction. He had already expected this to happen.
John calmly looked around his surroundings. His deep eyes glanced back and forth as he made his way deeper into the room. Suddenly, he caught a whiff of a smell that seemed to be blood.
“Nina? Where are you?” His deep voice resonated across the room.
Nina was hiding by a corner. As soon as she heard the door open, she thought that Isabella had let some horrible animal inside again.
Nina didn’t expect it to be the person she was yearning to see.
The familiar voice broke her tense stature. Her hands were filled with a strong smell of blood and she could not help but tremble.
The stain and foul smell was due to snake’s blood.
“Jo…Jo…Jo…John… I…I’m here.” Nina’s voice trembled. She still had no idea how she was able to break the snake’s head.
She wasn’t aware anymore of how many snake bites she already had on her arms.
Nina looked like she was about to break down any second.
Upon hearing Nina’s broken voice, John realized Nina did not voluntarily lock herself up. Albert had imprisoned her.
John followed her voice, and finally saw Nina’s figure emerge from the shadows. She was currently crouched down by the corner, hugging her legs and trembling.
John felt a sharp pain in his chest. He crouched down as well and held the girl in his arms. While caressing her head, he whispered, “It’s alright. I’m here.”
Nina broke into a fit of sobs. She couldn’t hold back the tears that rolled down her cheeks.
John finally came for her.
