A moment later, the doctor stepped out of the hospital room. He said that they had given Mo Jingshen a fever-reducing shot, but because his fever was still really high, it only managed to keep his temperature below thirty-nine degrees. Currently, he still had a high fever. In the next few hours, before his fever went down, he needed someone to take care of him for the whole night; to lower his physical temperature and feed him some warm water frequently.

Since Ji Nuan was here, naturally, no one would snatch this task away from her.

Late at night, Nan Heng returned to the base while Feng Ling was sitting outside the hospital room, resting. It was completely silent in the room.

Mo Jingshen was still sleeping. His complexion was different from went he was previously battling a high fever. Right now, his temperature had lowered slightly. The man’s typically distinct and handsome face was now especially pale. He was sleeping too quietly, causing Ji Nuan too flustered. She was not sure how long it would take for him to make a full recovery.

She reached out to touch his forehead; it was still burning hot.

A nurse came by to deliver a new ice pack. Ji Nuan stood up and went to the door to receive it. She held it in her hands for a moment before carefully placing it on his forehead.

Although Mo Jingshen was unconscious, he was not sleeping well. The cold ice pack on his forehead caused him to knit his brows subconsciously. Ji Nuan gently placed her hand on his shoulder and patted him lightly: “You have a fever. Set your mind at ease and rest. Right now, there’s nothing for you to worry about. All you have to do is sleep well so that you can quickly recover.”

She wasn’t sure if her words were effective, or if Mo Jingshen hadn’t been too unconscious. A few moments after she spoke, the man’s breathing became harmonious once more, and he remained deep asleep.

Mo Jingshen was being so obedient. If his complexion were not worryingly pale, Ji Nuan would actually find him rather adorable.

When he slept, he appeared completely different from when he was awake. In this world, there were probably very little people who would have the opportunity to see such a weak, quiet, and defenseless Mo Jingshen.

Ji Nuan pulled a chair over and sat by his bedside. Every so often, she would touch his forehead and hold his hand. She would also use the thermometer to check his temperature.

This continued for the next two hours while she fretted about ways to feed him warm water. She also used a towel to wipe and dispel the heat in his palms and neck. Two hours later, Mo Jingshen’s temperature finally fell to around thirty-seven degrees.

After confirming that he no longer had a fever, Ji Nuan carefully removed the ice pack from his forehead. She then wiped his face gently before sitting back down by his bedside. She borrowed the gentle light in the room to watch his sleeping appearance.

The man’s face was still rather pale as he laid quietly on the bed. The bruise on his brow bone had already faded, and as he laid there with his pristine appearance, he appeared strangely handsome in a sickly manner.

She recalled the way the man had stood in her hospital ward in the day. When he met Su Zhilan, he did not hold any of the emotions one would have for someone they used to know. In fact, he was cold to the point where it seemed like he could disregard all of the women but her.

Ji Nuan held her chin with one hand and leaned against the bed. She watched as the man slept and slowly intertwined her fingers with his. She pressed their palms closely together.

Ji Nuan was not sure when she fell asleep. When she startled awake, she felt that her head was slightly heavy. The moment she lifted her eyes, she met the ink-black ocean in the man’s eyes.

“When did you wake up?” She realized that his hand was gently placed atop her head. Ji Nuan quickly sat up and gently tugged his hand down, holding it to feel his temperature. She was only able to relax when she confirmed that he no longer had a fever: “I actually fell asleep. Wait for a while, I’ll go call a doctor.”

“Don’t call the doctor. My fever is already gone, why is there a need to call them?” Mo Jingshen shifted his hand to hold hers and did not allow her to leave.

“You had a high fever since last night. Your temperature only dropped after midnight. We should ask the doctor to come to give you a checkup, ah…”

“The wound is simply infected. At most, I’ll have to take antibiotics for several days and have a few more injections for the next two days. There’s no need to make a big fuss over something small.” The man’s voice was low and husky, but still distinct: “You’ve been taking care of me for the entire night. “I’ll go ask Feng Ling to buy some food.” After checking that his temperature was indeed fine, Ji Nuan released a sigh of relief and sat back down by his bedside. She gently snuggled her face against his palm and said unhappily: “Don’t do this again. We were already worried that your wound would become infected, yet you actually removed the anti-inflammatory IV needle. No matter if it’s Miss Su or someone else, it doesn’t matter. Even if you’re impatient to protect me, you have to see if your body can take it. I’m not some small, white flower that can be easily bullied. “All right, I’ll call him, but first, lie down and don’t move.” Ji Nuan brought the cup over and used a spoon to feed him several sips of water.

Seeing her careful actions as she fed him, Mo Jingshen felt slightly helpless. Ji Nuan was really obsessed with feeding him right now.

After making sure that he drank enough, Ji Nuan stood up with her phone and headed out to call Feng Ling, who was guarding outside.
