“Who told you that our studio’s financial balance has been in deficit?” Ji Nuan’s gaze moved to the finance supervisor standing inside her office.

The finance department’s Supervisor Xu was a woman close to her thirties. She wore glasses, was dressed in a clean and refined manner, and was very much the model example of an elite white-collar worker. However, the moment Ji Nuan’s gaze moved toward her, her eyes flashed, and she abruptly shifted away from her line of sight.

CEO Jin pointed at Supervisor Xu. “Supervisor Xu has already brought out all the reports on your current financial situation as well as the almost two months of continuous bank deficit statements. Although Miss Ji might not miss those thirty million yuan, opening a company isn’t like playing pretend. What is owed has to be returned. If you are really unable to return that sum of money, you can always reach your hand out and ask your father. Ji Nuan’s tone was mild while her lips curled in a smile that did not reach her eyes. “Your valued company has signed a three years investment contract with us. Since it’s only been half a year and you wish to take the money back, does it mean you plan to break the contract on your end?”

CEO Jin had a knowing expression on and glanced at the man with a suitcase behind her. She chuckled coldly. “I knew you would say that. You want to make use of the contract to bring up the penalty for breaking it, don’t you? Ah, I’m going to place these words here. Today, not only am I going to sever the contract smoothly, but I must also immediately settle the bill! Otherwise, don’t blame my lawyer for directly bringing your studio to court. We’ll see if your studio will still be able to remain in operation!”

From start to finish, Ji Nuan was unaffected by CEO Jin. She walked over and picked up those two financial reports and the bank deficit statements. After taking a quick look through it, she abruptly turned to eye Supervisor Xu who had been silently standing there the whole time.

Supervisor Xu lowered her head and seemed to seriously and politely answer, “Yes, those are all the debts left behind when CEO Han left. Part of what needs to be repaid has already been settled by using our fluid funds. However, a large portion remains unsettled even now. CEO Jin called us previously to inform us she wanted to take a look. Last night, I worked overtime until it was late to compile these numbers…”

“Worked overtime until it was late?” Ji Nuan smiled faintly. She then turned her gaze once more and with an unhurried tone that made her emotions difficult to decipher, she said, “CEO Jin, could you give me twenty minutes to chat with my finance supervisor?”

CEO Jin glanced at her with an expression of mockery. “A few words can bring thirty million yuan out?”

In the office, there were also several people brought by CEO Jin. They could not help but let out their laughter, and their gazes were filled with ridicule. It was as though they were watching a ten-year-old girl messing about in the business world that killed people without leaving blood behind.

Ji Nuan smiled quietly. She carried those reports in her hands and turned. “Supervisor Xu, come out with me.”

They moved to the office next door. Ji Nuan placed the reports in her hands onto the table. She then turned back and focused on Supervisor Xu with eyes as indifferent as ice.

The moment she met Ji Nuan’s gaze, Supervisor Xu’s footsteps stiffened, and her expression became wary. “Miss Ji, what do you… want to discuss?”

“What do I want to discuss? What do you think?” Ji Nuan had an expression that was not quite a smile as she stared at her. “Your fabrication technique is really substandard.”

Supervisor Xu instantly stared at her in astonishment. “What do those words mean? What have I fabricated?”

Ji Nuan picked up the reports on the table and threw it in front of her.

“Did you really think that after taking over the company for so many days, I’ve been messing about at home and playing with it like a toy?”

Supervisor Xu stared at her for a moment before softly explaining, “Of course I don’t think so. But that our accounts are in deficit because of our debts is the truth! When the company was in CEO Han’s hands, it had been losing money at an unbelievable rate! You can’t look to me to settle the bill now that the investor is knocking on our doors. I’m just in charge of finance. I can’t give birth to money. When money is gone, it’s gone. I can’t make it appear…”

Ji Nuan’s brows rose slightly while her tone was cold as she said, “A month ago, the company’s capital fund still had around thirty million yuan of fluid money. That was meant to support the project for a new commercial building in the south. In just a month, how did this sum of money disappear? Was it eaten by you?”

Supervisor Xu’s gaze flashed, and she stuttered, “I’m not sure about this as well. A month ago, Miss Ji had yet to take over the company. That money might have been taken by CEO Han…”
