Anika got off work early today, assuming it was Zac’s birthday, and did not ask the driver to pick her up.

In the morning, she drove herself to work.

She took the elevator to the parking garage, but before she could reach her car, she noticed Kayden standing beside it.

“Anika, do you have any free time?” Kayden arrived on his own.

When he noticed she was about to say something, she said, “Do not make a hasty decision.I am about to leave the Misty Bridge.I am sorry, but this is the last time I will bother you.”

His tone was cautious, as if he was afraid Anika would disregard her.

He was well aware that she did not want to see him.

She had already wished for his complete absence from her life.

But he could not help but want to see her one last time before he left.

Anika’s expression came to a halt.

“Let us go to the coffee shop outside” she sighed helplessly as she looked at the clock.

“Alright.”

Kayden drew the corners of his mouth together.

The cafe was close to the office, and it was not yet dark.

On the streets, there was only a small amount of traffic.

They exited the company building one by one and proceeded to the coffee shop directly across the street.

Anika took out her phone and began typing a Viber message to Zac.

However, just a few steps later, accompanied by an ear-piercing friction, a red car parked on the side of the road suddenly started, and it quickly drove towards the two of them.

“Look out ”

The approaching car’s sound was as loud as the man’s exclamation.

When Anika saw the person sitting in the driver’s seat, she was pushed away by Kayden.

Her phone suddenly fell to the ground and was crushed by the car.

Despite passing through the railings, the red sports car broke the coffee shop’s glass.

Kayden had already completed the surgery and was transferred to a different intensive care unit.

She pushed open the ward door, which had a faint disinfectant odor to it.

Before the anesthesia for the operation wore off, Anika was sitting in a chair beside Kayden, who was lying quietly in the hospital bed.

Her thoughts were somewhat complicated.

She had not anticipated Lucy’s strong dislike for her.

Kayden, on the other hand, immediately aided her in fending off the disaster.

Kayden’s eyelids trembled and slowly opened after an unknown amount of time.

Kayden’s lips turned pale and he became aware of the pain in his legs.

He frowned as he noticed Anika standing beside the bed.

“How are you?” he asked, his voice a little hoarse.

“I am all right.After you fainted, Lucy was taken away by the police,’ Anika said with a sigh of relief.

Kayden was hit on his head and got a broken leg.

Luckily, Anika only received minor injuries.

“Yes.”

Kayden spoke softly and with a nonchalant demeanor.

Anika frowned and continued, “I have already called Kayleigh.She will arrive soon”

After Grandpa Philipp underwent heart surgery, his health was not very good.

Not long ago, Sonia accompanied him abroad to rest and recuperate.

Without Sonia’s permission, Kayleigh went to BY City with her classmates and was also not at Misty Bridge.

“I hired a nurse for you.She’s right outside the door.Since you’re awake, you can call her if you need anything”

The reason why she stayed in the hospital was because Kayden was injured to save her.

Just now, Anika borrowed the nurse’s phone and sent a message to Zac as she did not want him to think nonsense.

However, the man did not reply.

“Are you leaving now? Can’t you accompany me for a while?”

“Kayden, thank you for saving me.”

“The doctor said that you still need to undergo surgery on your leg.There is a small chance that there will be some complications.When I accompanied my mentor to Germany for a training, I met a doctor who is very good at leg surgery–”

“But Anika, you know this is not what I want.” Kayden suddenly interrupted her suggestion.

Kayden was even a little relieved when he awoke.

“As long as Zac is here, my destination is him” she said with a smile.

“Him?”

Kayden’s face flushed.

“Who do you think set you up to go back to Florida, Anika? Do you believe Zac’s hands are clean? How could we have gotten this far without him assisting Kayleigh behind your back?”

He had never said anything like this to her before.

Kayden realized that no matter what he said, he would still not be good enough for her.

But now she does not have to be concerned about it.

Anika was taken aback by the sudden words.

The ward was deafeningly quiet.

“Kayden, do you remember why I agreed to be with you?”

Anika asked after a while.

“Zac gave me a lucky charm bracelet for Christmas that year.I thought you asked Zac to send it to me,’’ she paused.

“So, it was Zac?” Kayden muttered, clearly taken aback.

Anika gave a calm nod.

“Are you telling me this now to show that you would not have been with me at all if it were not for Zac?” Kayden wondered.

“If that is what you believe, it could be true.”

She shut her eyes and did not say anything else.

“You are so ruthless that even my last memories are about to be totally destroyed,”

Kayden smiled as he looked into her calm eyes.

He could not bear seeing her and Zac together over and over again.

Despite his parents’ objections, he wanted to leave the Misty Bridge simply to let go and stop reminiscing about their past.

However, she now claims that it all began with a misunderstanding.

By accident, he was a ridiculous and laughable substitute for Zac.

“This is not right, Anika.”

As he looked at her, Kayden’s eyes were burning.
