When Ming Rusheng entered the mansion with the help of servants, he said, “I can go by myself.”

One of the two servants said hesitantly, “Young master, let us help you.”

“I am not that drunk to not be able to find a way to my room,” he said and pushed two servants aside who were helping him walk.

The servants didn’t insist more knowing the temper of Ming Rusheng and preferred to step aside while looking at Ming Rusheng who was going upstairs to his room.

Ming Rusheng climbed stairs holding the railing along the staircase and reached the first floor. Seeing it, two servants gave out a sigh of relief and left to their rooms.

When Ming Rusheng was about to turn to his room, he saw someone getting out of one of the rooms and went towards the gallery in a hurry. Ming Rusheng shook his head a few times to get a clear look, and he saw, it was Jiang Yuyan.

“Why is she going to the gallery at this late hour?” Ming Rusheng mumbled to himself and stepped towards the gallery to check on her. When he reached there, he saw Jiang Yuyan was talking on a cellphone while standing near the railing. She looked happy and her face was red with blushing. Ming Rusheng heard the few last lines of their conversation and observing her, he understood who she was talking to.

Just as his mind processed all the things, at the same time Jiang Yuyan finished talking and turned to leave. Ming Rusheng was in his thoughts and as he was drunk, he didn’t notice Jiang Yuyan finished her call and turned.

Seeing him standing behind her a few steps back, Jiang Yuyan said, “Brother, Rusheng!”

Getting back to his senses, Ming Rusheng looked at her and said, “I…I was just passing by and saw you coming here.” he tried to talk and behave as much composed as he could.

“Network in my room was weak, so I had to come here to attend a call,” Jiang Yuyan answered and thought to leave from there but Ming Rusheng spoke again, “Congratulations!”

Understanding the reason she said, “Thank you.” Standing there alone with Ming Rusheng at late hours and also noticing that Ming Rusheng was drunk was making her uncomfortable, so she said, “I will take a leave. Good night, brother Rusheng.”

Seeing how she avoided talking to him triggered him and he couldn’t help but get the things out from his heart. Moreover, he was under the influence of alcohol, so his brain was about to give up on what he had decided for the past few months, that he should stay away from Jiang Yuyan.

“Yuyan!” he called her and she halted in her tracks as she was about to cross him. Looking at him she asked, “Yes, brother Rusheng?”

“What is so good about him that you decided to marry him?” he asked looking back at her.

His words surprised her and she looked at him questioningly, so he said again, “He is no good for you. You can get someone better than him.” 4

These words angered her inside, but she maintained her calm and said, “I don’t wish to get someone better. He is fine for me the way he is.”

“Is it because of his power and money?” He asked and before she could answer him back he said, “Wait for a while and soon I will get all that power and wealth.”

Giving out a deep sigh, Jiang Yuyan answered, “It’s because I love him and even if he won’t have that power and wealth, he is the only one for me.” Saying she thought how it was related to him getting power like Lu Qiang and but she avoided talking further.

“How can you be so sure that he is the only one for you when you have never given a chance to someone else and never even looked at them?” Ming Rusheng asked.

“I don’t鈥?.”

“Do you have any idea what my heart feels for you?” Ming Rusheng said, looking at her with his earnest gaze, not giving her a chance to say what she wanted to.

“Brother Rusheng!” She exclaimed and he said again, “I really love you, Yuyan.”

Hearing it, Jiang Yuyan didn’t know what to do and felt suffocated there. She wanted to leave as soon as possible and stepped ahead to leave.

Just then, Ming Rusheng exclaimed, “Yuyan!” and held her hand to pull her back towards him. The tug was powerful so when he pulled her, she landed up in his embrace, making both of them move a few steps back.

The closeness with him and that strong smell of alcohol angered her, so she couldn’t help but pushed him back with a force and slapped him hard. She looked furious as if she wanted to kill him. Not saying a single word, Jiang Yuyan left while running back to her room.

Ming Rusheng continued looking at her retreating back while touching his cheek where she imprinted her fingers and sat down with a sad smile on his face. He held the dried, thorny plant twig in his hand which was lying on the floor and said, “If you would have stepped on it, you would be in pain, Yuyan. Then, How would you be able to walk down the aisle on your wedding day with a hurt leg?” 4

When Jiang Yuyan was about to leave, Ming Rusheng saw the dried thorny twig on which Jiang Yuyan was about to step, so not thinking twice, he pulled her back. As he was drunk, he couldn’t measure the force properly and in a hurry he used it all which made her land closer to him in his embrace, though he didn’t intend to do it. 3

When Jiang Yuyan reached her room, she felt disgusted and went to have a bath again. Though she was out of her past, she couldn’t help but feel the forceful and unwanted touch disgusting.

She just heard a confession from a person which she never expected and the way things ended up made her feel sad. Also, she didn’t know why Ming Rusheng pulled her towards him and got him wrong.
