His last words reminded her of how he helped her to distract her mind from thinking about nightmares and a blush covered her face. That closeness with him was affecting her and she wished to get away from him before embarrassing herself more by giving into him when he touched her.
Just then the elevator stopped at their floor and the door opened. Jiang Yuyan got the chance to get away from him. She pushed him aside and stepped out of the elevator in a hurry. She was relieved that no one was there, especially from their own office.

’It’s so fun to tease her,’ Lu Lijun smiled playfully and stepped out to go to the office. It was time for work and to be serious.

The receptionist and other employees present in the office, Greeted Jiang Yuyan and Lu Lijun.

”You can use my office for the time being,” Lu Lijun told her.

”You and Noah can work in your office and I and Xiao Min will use Noah’s office,” Jiang Yuyan offered.

Lu Lijun held her hand and took her towards his office in front of everyone that Jiang Yuyan could not resist as others were watching.

Once they entered the office and the door was closed, she asked, “What are you doing?”

Lu Lijun didn’t listen and took her towards his work table and made her sit in his chair, “You are ‘The President Lu’ who needs to sit in the best office here. And as a good employee, I can not let my boss wander here and there.”

He moved back and she asked, “Boss?”

He nodded as he stood looking at her, “Of course, you are the boss, the president of the company I work for.”

”You realized it so soon,” she said mockingly.

”I realized it long back that you are the only one who can be my boss,” he said as he looked at her with a meaningful gaze, “Whether the boss in my life or in the office.”

Jiang Yuyan only looked at him feeling speechless and sudden silence surrounded them which was broken by the sudden knock on the door.

Keith entered the office with the files, “Mr Lu, the files you asked me yesterday.”

Lu Lijun nodded and Keith kept them on the table. He sensed the silence in the office room and felt like leaving early but then said, “Mr Lu, you have an appointment with Ms Jessica Brown regarding the project. Mr Jake will also be here shortly.”

Lu Lijun nodded and went to the other side of the work table where Keith had placed the files while Jiang Yuyan waited for Xiao Min to show up who left her alone like this instead of taking care of her needs in this new office.

As expected, Xiao Min entered the office, “Boss….”

”I would like you to do something for me,” Jiang Yuyan said.

”Yes, boss?”

”Find a better assistant for me,” Jiang Yuyan replied.

He knew his mistake but he also had to look for his boss’s happiness and followed Noah. “Apologies boss,” and arranged Jiang Yuyan’s work.

Noah who was there smiled at how his senior turned silent in front of his boss and then looked at Lu Lijun, ‘Thank god my boss is my best friend. Though he is as stubborn as president Lu, I still have the liberty to give him an earful.’

Lu Lijun ignored everything as it was the time for work and said, “Noah, you know the next appointment.”

”Yes, I have already prepared for it,” he replied.

Lu Lijun looked at Jiang Yuyan, “We will be in the meeting room. You can join us if you wish to.”

Jiang Yuyan nodded and Lu Lijun left with Noah.

Jiang Yuyan stared at the closed door of the office and asked, “Xiao Min, is it fine to be selfish sometimes even if you know it might hurt others?”

Xiao Min could understand his boss and replied, “I don’t know about others, but boss, you sure deserve to be one. You deserve to be happy whatever it takes.”

She looked at Xiao Min, “You too deserve to be happy.”

Xiao Min simply nodded and offered a file to her. “This one is what we will be having a meeting about.”

Jiang Yuyan went to the file quickly and put it aside, “Got it. Let’s go for a meeting.”

They reached the meeting room but before entering it, through the glass wall, Jiang Yuyan saw a woman sitting next to Lu Lijun at that rectangular table and talked to him with a smile on her face. Her eyes were busy admiring Lu Lijun’s face while talking when he was mostly focused on the tablet in his hand and talking back to her.

Xiao Min noticed it and said, “She is Ms Williams. Daughter of Mr William we met during that event and one of our partners here. She is assisting her father with….”

”Isn’t she the one who danced with Lu Lijun that day?” Jiang Yuyan asked, which interrupted him. Jiang Yuyan remembered her as that girl had talked to her before asking Lu Lijun to dance.

”Y-Yes, boss. She is also his university friend and Jake’s distant cousin.”

Jiang Yuyan frowned inwardly and was about to enter the meeting room, Jake arrived there. “Morning President Lu.” he greeted her.

”Morning,” Jiang Yuyan replied.

Jake had heard and observed Jiang Yuyan’s reaction when she and Xiao Min were talking. He could not help but smile at her reaction, ‘Looks like my pretty cousin will come in handy soon.’

They entered the office where Jiang Yuyan sat in a chair that Xiao Min pulled out for and it was just opposite to Lu Lijun who was busy going through the information in the files on the tablet and explaining things to the pretty and young girl sitting next to him.

Once they finished, the girl said, “That’s a good decision and very beneficial for this project.”

Lu Lijun nodded and put the tablet aside as he finally looked at Jiang Yuyan who glared at him for a moment but then collected herself as if she didn’t care. ‘Did I see it wrong again? Is she angry again? Must be because I teased her in the elevator.’

”Hello, President Lu?” she smiled at Jiang Yuyan.

Jiang Yuyan only replied with her polite nod.
