MY BESTFRIEND SLIPPED INSIDE ME (AN ALPHA’S SECRET) - Season 2 Episode 77
Avery’s pov
Things happened so quickly after her question that my brain still did not have time to process everything all at once.
My silence struck her and she looked up, searches my gaze and those misty eyes paints with disbelief. With a doubtful shake of her head, she turns around to stride back inside the house. I finally found my voice and follow after her.
“Mom!” I call doubt, my voice shaky with pain and fear, terror that she’d be mad with me about this.
She suddenly whirls around, making me freeze. Her eyes are stormy and cloudy as she looks behind me, right at Xade. ” Did you do this to her?” she practically spits out.
I flinch at her tone, not expecting her to sound so harsh. She loved Xade, well the one she could remember, and if she had still remembered him I didn’t think she’d react the way she’s doing now.
Not when she had been the one to push me for years to confess to him about my feelings. She hadn’t even liked Kyan when I had been with him.

But now, Xade was nothing but a stranger to her.
Xade nods, stepping toward me and holding my hand. “I love your daughter and plan-
Xade didn’t have time to finish his words before she stormed over and snarls. You idiot!” she lifts her hand and her palm imprint on his cheek. The sound is harsh and echoes in the small house.
I gasp. “Mom!” stepping between them and in front of Xade protectively. It takes two to tango and this was also my fault. Even though I didn’t really see this as messing up. I wanted this baby, more than I thought I would.
Tears streamed down her cheeks and she shakes her head in
disappointment. “I thought you were smarter than that Avery. I thought you promised to put education first and not boys? How could you let this happen so soon?”

I swallowed hard, her words cutting deep. She was disappointed in me, I could see it in her eyes, hear it in her voice. This felt terrible.

I hadn’t expected to be welcomed and praised and cooed when I told her the news, but I hoped that she’d smile and tell me everything would be okay and I could do it.
“You promised,” the raw emotion in her voice cut me deep. ” You let this boy fool you-
“No,” I cut in, my voice firm but soft. “No one fooled anyone, it takes two to tango-
“You knew better!” She snaps, her eyes furiously glaring at me. still so young with a bright future ahead of you! I didn’t work so much to have you knocked up before you get your degree!”
I flinched back, her words slashing through my heart. Xade comes around me to stand in front of me protectively and like a coward I press my forehead to his back, the tears from my eyes soaking on the back of his shirt.
One of his hand pushed behind his back to hold my waist as if silently telling me he was here and I would be okay. But I can’t hide behind him forever, I had to face this head on. This 2 as my mom, and even though she was mad right now, she loves me, and she loved Xade….even though she could not remember him right now.
I know you’re mad right now but please don’t speak to her so harshly,” Xade grumbles protectively.
“And who are you to tell me how to speak to my daughter!?” Mom screeched in disbelief.” She has never mentioned you to me before,”
“Mom!” I utter, moving away from behind Xade to stare at her. ” Can you-
She shook her head. ” You need to leave Avery, I can’t deal with this right now.”
