MRS RÓDRÍGUÉZ - EPISODE 7
**
Audrielle stepped out from the carriage and met the prince outside. Already waiting for her arrival -she guesses.
Her breath increased rapidly as she took step towards him feeling so nervous.
The watched him closely from the side of her lid.
The priest just stared as she approached nearer.
“A blissful Evening, My Prince,” she courtsied, A way of greeting required of her.
She lowered her head as she patiently waited the prince to say something.
“What is your name?” His deep voice crawled on her skin.
His voice isn’t has she remembered. It has deepened. His facial appearance was well built, Really, he was a sight to behold.
He has grown and everything changed. Changed to an extent that he couldn’t even recall her name.
“Audrielle, my Prince. The daughter of late D…
“Of course I knew your father. I asked just for your name” he cut her off in a way showing she trespassed her question.
She bowed in response and nodded nervously, swallowing the heavy lump that formed on her throat.
He noticed how timid she looked. His eyes raked the corners of her body. Even her timidness couldn’t utter how elegant she was looking this evening.
Red, that was his color. He loves ladies on Red.
“Come, let’s take a quick walk” he demanded, walking past her.
Audrielle nodded, matching her steps with his as he led the way. His steps steady and bold. While his hands folded behind his back.
Antonio deep into his his thoughts still wandered why his mother would suddenly pick an interest in her?
Is she educated or something.
How does his mother know she’s fit and capable of such heavy task pertaining royalty?
“What is your field of study?”
He asked after a Long silent walk.
Balls of sweat trickled down her head. The cool breeze that blew that evening had no effect on me.
” I never schooled, my prince” her voice came out low. Very low.
“What?” He stopped his movements, the ‘what’ coming out now but in suprise.
His mom would pick sudden interest on an illiterated commoner.
“No. But I know a few things from the evening sections they give in le…
“That’s an entirely different case.” He shrugged, correcting her sentence.
“That still won’t change the fact that you never acquired basic education”
He tried to use his words right, but it failed him.
“By circumstances, my prince”
Cloud gathered in her eyes. Tears which threatened to fall.
School- was something she wished that never came to pass. Seeing her Mates becoming learned while she gets tied by circumstances and challenges, it’s something that bittered her soul.
Luckily, prince Antonio never to ask further about academics.
From close, he spotted a seat by the side of the Lane.
“Let’s have a seat there”
He pointed, leading the way.
They got there and sat on the stony carved seat. All through, her head was lowered to the ground as she fidgeted with her fingers.
“How old are you, Audrielle?” He asked, getting a bit personal.
“Twenty” she responded.
“Twenty,…” He emphasized.
“Twenty and you must feel as the most achieved person on planet. Getting to a position every young maiden would die for”
This statement surged through Audrielle, and for once, she lifted her face and stared intensely at the prince.
Antonio’s eyes wasn’t deceiving him. Just like his mother had said. She is really beautiful. Her facial appearance could easily deceive a Man. But the very recipe missing was the smile that was supposed to be taunted on her lips. A smile that’s never meant to derail her face since she’s next in line as the queen and his wife.
He also took not of the dark circles beneath before eyes.
Has she been deluded of her sleep lately? He asked within.
Of course, no maiden would find solace in sleep after getting to know their fate as the future queen of Scotland.
Their seeming expectations would take the betterment of them and all they’d wish for is nothing but the day of their joining as man and wife.
And audrielle seated beside him, he doesn’t think an exception.
“Well. I thank the odds” she finally replied.
Her thought was what would make the prince think she’s any happier?
She’s just a lady by circumstance.
Audrielle blinked hard trying to hide the cloudy areas in her eyes. The tears that threatened to fall.
She used her left hand and picked a tear drop from her eyes.
There, his eyes caught with her wrist. The familiarity with the bracelet she was putting on.
How would he forget? This was the very bracelet he gifted her with, many years ago.
The years when they weren’t too different and occupied as now.
All these while, she kept it?
To think he lost his by carelessness made his conscience tingle in guilt. But quickly, he shoved off the feeling and looked away from her facing straight A’s he returned back to his blank expression.
“Do you have a lover?” His question channelled to his cold expression.
“No.” She lowered her head.
“Never had? ”
” no. My prince”
The prince seemed in doubt . Coming from someone with so much endowment.
“Why?” He couldn’t help from asking.
“Nothing. Thought it’s for the best”
The prince gave her a weird Look.
“Why do i Have a feeling that you and your family planned with my parents this whole sh•t while I was away?”
“What?! My prince. I only got to know about this arrangement just yesterday. I was as clueless as you were”
“Then why were you without a lover at such age? It’s abnormal and suspicious” he ranted.
This question, she found no way to answer.
Personalizing the question, she asked herself. Why really didn’t she go with a lover?..
Well, it would have made things pretty more complicated now.
She answered herself.
“I wasn’t attracted to any” she muttered.
“Well I guess that gives me the answer I’ve been wanting to hear. You knew about this all along and that’s why you chose not to get involved in any man.
But just for the record, I have someone in my life right now. Someone i love so much and I intend to make her my wife. Not you”
Audrielle didn’t know why but this sudden confession from the prince pierced her heart like a spear.
She has no feelings for him but still, his words hurt like a salt in her injury.
“How much do you want? How much to keep you away from this madness. Enough to take you out of here to another land and start anew. If truly you aren’t part of all this arrangement. Accept this offer, sheltering you won’t be a problem.
“I’ll sort it out for you. It will be known to my mother and even the king that you could stay fit something your heart doesn’t go with.”

He finished, looking serious than ever.
Audrielle thought for a while, it would be what sh wanted more than ever. But then, a question slipped from her mouth.
“What about my mother? And Simone, my junior brother? What becomes their face?”
The prince was silent for a while and then, he spoke out.
“I’ll find a way to compensate them. You’ll always be in constant touch. You have my word.”
This his response wasn’t in any way compelling. The offer entails betrayal and selfishness. What happens to her mother thereafter?
What if she dies of @n heart attack? Or becomes depressed and heart broken What about her brother who’s naive of everything.
What about the debt they owe the king?
This is selfish. She shook her head after her thought.
“My prince, I can’t. I can’t” she declined, leaving a hard expression that turned to anger plastered on his face.
His effort to will her out if this whole thing just turned futile.
“You asked for this. Remember”
He quoted . Getting up from the paced seat.
From the interpretation to his action, audrielle could tell that The evening walk was done.
She sat there and watched the prince walked away till he was finally out of sight.

Audrielle walked her way home in silence.
Unlike her, she didn’t bother to greet any fellow that she passed on the way. She was just lost in deep thoughts. -her own thoughts.
Why does she feel like she should have just accepted the offer?
The look on the prince’s face tells Alot.
There’ll be no hope for her in this marriage. He clearly talked about having a lover. Someone he loves so much that he’d go to the extent of giving her a tempting offer.
It hurts.
It isn’t supposed to hurt this much but it does. She had grown up listening to fairy tale being read to her by her mother about Happily Ever After. But her thought remained, is there hope for her?
Was there really an Happily ever after for her in this marriage she’s about to begin with the prince?
He’s too cold towards her. And little wonders if that’s how he behaves too to others.
But certainly not . She had doubt.
She arrived home and met her mother and her younger brother who ran into her arms thereafter.
They were in a feasting mood. The table was set.
“I missed you so much Audrielle. And i have so much to tell you about”
He said, almost jumping on her.
Audrielle flinched and felt withdrawn. She wasn’t in the mood for any of this.
Her mother Rachel noticed and quickly called simone back to the dinning.
“Come and eat Audrielle, I made your favorite” sh e called out an invite.
Audrielle stared at the wooden dining and slowly shook her head. Declining the offer.
“I’m okay”
“How was the meeting with the queen? Tarsia’ told me she sent for you…. Hope no problem?”
Rachel asked her daughter.
From the dimlight which the candle managed to produce, she could see her daughter’s gloomy face.
“It… It was fine mother. I’m tired and I would love to retreat to bed”
“Okay. ” Rachel who understood perfectly that all wasn’t fine nodded to her request.
“I’ll be coming later to Join you Audrielle, so you’d read me a bedtime story as promised” Simone stated.
Audrielle ignored and walked her way up to her room.
“What is wrong with mother audrielle? Is she okay?” The little boy asked.
“She isn’t well my dear”
Rachel replied her son dishing out his portion on his plate.
“I don’t want her falling sick mother. Do you mind if I keep her company tonight? I promise to take good care of her”
“No. She just wants to be left alone. Why not eat your food before it gets cold then I’ll read you a bedtime story in place of Audrielle”
Rachel said to him and a big smile stretched on his lips .
” Okay mama” he began with his food almost immediately.

The thick smoke which popped out from his pipe filled the room, giving it a choking smell as he listened to what the musculine fellow was telling him.
“So it’s true isn’t it. The prince is back in Scotland”
“Yes my Lord. And as the rumor have it, the kingdom is preparing for a marriage ceremony.”
The potbellied grey man flinched an eyebrow
“Marriage ceremony for who?” He asked.
“I think the prince , master”
“Hmm” the old pot bellied man got up with his pipe on his mouth as he walked over to the window staring into the thick night.
“I thought we had an agreement” he bulged. Speaking low and rather to himself.
” Diego?” He called.
“Yes, my Lord”
“Go find out whose Marriage it is. Get me details, I want to be updated… ”
He paused, then taking a long drag from his pipe, he continued
“Get me informed in two days time… ”
The musculine fellow whose face couldn’t be seen in the dark room slightly nodded and walked immediately out of the master’s room.
“This wasn’t our agreement Reynold… This certainly wasn’t what we agreed My king”
He mumbled, fondly his overgrown greyish beard….
