Adrianna’s pov.

” You’re getting married?” Melissa shirked unbelievably.

” It’s … It’s not a real marriage mom. It’s just for a short while. ”
I sighed out.
Explaining this to my mother was harder than I thought.

” How long?”

” Just three months. ”

” Three months?… Then what is the meaning of the marriage?.. ”

” It’s fake. That’s the idea. He just needs a bride to give him a…

I stopped talking.
Was it right if I told her the reason?. That he’s getting married because he needs a child. And that I’m gonna be a single mom courtsey to a fake union.
No. Definitely not a good idea.

” Uhn…he just needs an acting bride in other to claim some properties and engage in businesses. Getting married is his license. ”
I smiled.

” Just for three months. ?”

“Yes Mom. There’s nothing to lose. We’ll get to live a good life. We’ll have enough cash to pay up our debts. Can’t you see it’s good. I’m making the sacrifice mom. I’ve always wanted to do something incredible to see us survive. Let me do this Mom. Let me do this for Jaden. He deserves a normal childhood. ”

There was a loud sigh from my mother.

She was queit for a while.

” If you’re okay with it. You can go on. I give you my blessings. ”

” it’s a fake marriage. ” I reminded.

” Nonetheless. You still need the blessings. .. and oh. One more thing. ”
She suddenly realized a part she had probably missed.

” Which is?’ I asked.

” Do not let him touch you for any reason. For the next three months you’ll have to live as wife with him, keep you legs closed. Always remember it’s fake. I don’t want you having….

” Oh Mom. You needn’t worry about a thing cause it’s all in control. ”
I raked a small laugh as hot sweat trickled down my head.

Remind me to tell her getting pregnant was the reason I sighed up for this contract.

A child.

Bringing a child to this world won’t totally upset her. She’ll be a grandmother. Grandmothers are always happy with babies right?..

I hope so.

” You should rest,.. it’s getting late. ”
She laid on her bed while I spread the duvet on her .

I made sure she took her bath and ate well before telling her the arrangement.

” And oh… Mom..” I called.

“Hmm?..”

“Tomorrow is the wedding. ”

” Tomorrow what?..”
She say upright.

” For how long have you been planning this? Why is everything such a rush.?”

Another good question.
But I can’t answer that. Only Davis can. He seems to be rushing every arrangements and I wonder why.

” It’s to hasten everything so he can…,,, Uhm,, get… What ,, he needs from the contract. Yes, the contract.”
My excuse was crazy.

My mom shook her head but didn’t say anything.

” Are you sure about this Adrianna?”

“Yes Mom. I am. I’m old enough to know what I want. So I’m sure. Besides, it’s just gonna be you , me Jaden… Davis mom and the priest. It’s gonna be like a small wedding. ”

I retorted.

She nods and lay back on the bed.

My guess- she doesn’t know what else to say.

” Goodnight Mom. ”

I kissed her cheeks before making out of the room.

I felt exhausted.
I strode to the kitchen to get water because I was feeling a bit thirsty.

” How did she take it?..”

“Jesus!”
I turned on the lights and saw Davis in the kitchen too.

” You Fvcking scared the hell out of me dammit. ” I held my chest which was already pounding from the shock.

” Did you have to hide in the dark?. ”
I asked but he didn’t say anything. Instead his eyes raked my body.

Only then did I realize what I was putting on. A very light inner which held my firm breast, with my nipple poking the Lacy material.

He got away from the wall which he was leaning on and walked closer to me, covering the distance between us.

” You wouldn’t want us to start the contract for a baby right away, miss flaire”
His voice was calm.

I gulped hard. ” I didn’t know you were in here okay. I sleep on light clothes. ”
I replied nervously. Trying to cover myself.

” What did she say?.”. He asked.

” Who?..”

He furrowed his brow at me.

” Your mother. ”

” Oh. ” I palmed my face Realizing myself.

” I think she’s cool with it. “.
” You think?”

” No.. I mean. She’s cool with it. ” I replied feeling a bit uneasy,,,, and thirsty too.

I brushed past him and grab a bottled water from the fridge.

I swallowed most of it contents and felt a bit refreshed .

” So… As I was saying..” I turned but …

He was no longer there.

Hmm.
I sighed out and screened my the milk nightie I was putting on. It really did reveal most part of my body.
I swallowed in before Walking out of the kitchen.

Davis Pov.

I walked into my room and shut the door behind.
It was past eight pm. I sighed out and reached for the drug container. Just as the doctor always prescribed, I poured four tablets into my hand and swallowed, I took the glassy cup which contained some water and drank it.

Getting the contract done felt like a fulfilment, but still I felt a hole in me. A deep one coupled with the burden of my ailment.

There’s so much to know about me. So much to say .. and there’s a whole lot I want to forget.

******** Three years ago *******

Grand opening of Durec company* .

It was a very big party and almost every business man and woman was there. It was the grand opening of the new company Mr Gregg Michealson has founded.

Everyone had Alot to eat, drink and even talk about.
.the Chinese, Japan, British and other countries were there too.

At a close corner sat the young son of Michealson. He watched from exhaustion. He already gave a lot of opening speech, considering he’s the only legimate son of his father.

He sat there but his eyes wasn’t lost in the crowd or in other beautiful ladies that threw him some seductive stare.

His eyes glued to the young female seating at a close end to the entrance.

She looked exhausted and lost in everything… Just like him.

Wouldn’t mind if he made a new friend.

He thought within as he got up and walked towards her table.

“Hi. ” He greeted with a toothy grin.

The lady who had suddenly realized his presence smiled in return.
Only then did he realize how beautiful she was.

” I’m Davis. Mind if I join you?”

” No I don’t.” She replied with a smile.

” Waiter. ”
Davis ordered for drinks but she kindly declined the drinks. ” I don’t really like hard wine… Especially in a crowded place. ”
She replied.

Davis smiled and waved the Waiter off. Captured by her sweet nature and consciousness. Plus, her beauty.

” What is your name?..”

” Betty. My name is Betty Aalan”

“Betty.” He drawled with a sweet smile playing at the corner of his lips.

That was her name. Betty,,,
A name he immediately registered in his heart.
