CLARA’S HOUSE

“Hello, Clara”, I heard a voice and I jumped up. When I turned to look for where the voice is coming from, I saw a woman standing. She put on black all through and she was on veil so I couldn’t see her face.

“Who are you and what do you want from me”, I asked shaking.

“You don’t have to be scared, I’m not going to hurt you. I’m here for a mission that will profit the both of us. So are you interested or not”, Melaine simply stated.

“What type of mission is that and why do you choose to come to meet me instead”, I asked doubting the woman.

Melaine laughed, “You and I both want someone out of our way because she’s stopping our plans. And you happen to be the perfect person to eliminate her. That’s why I chose you”, Melaine said.

“And may I know who this person is in particular”, I asked

“Audriene”, Melaine said and I shivered at the mention of that name. I remembered how Paul was brutally killed for trying to rape her and the killer is still unknown.

“I’m sorry, but I can’t”, I said. “Go look for someone else to do it”, I added.

“Aren’t you tired of allowing her steal the spotlight from you when you are obviously better than her. Or allowing her to steal the boys heart so quickly while no one has ever looked your way”, Melaine yelled.

I was terrified the way the woman yelled. She calmed down and continued, “Let us remove her from the way so that I will have my revenge and you will be the center of attraction. What do you think about that. Isn’t it a nice offer. Think about it. I will come back tomorrow to know your final say”, Melaine said.

When I was about to utter another word, the woman has already left. I was scared to death. “How did she do that”, I asked myself.

My door opened, “Clara what happened, I was hearing your voice from my room. Were you talking to someone”, my mum asked.

“Uhm… no… I mean I was talking to uhm my friend on the phone” I said stammering while scratching the back of my hair.

“Oh.. okay if you say so”, my mum said and closed the door.

“That was a close one”, I said. I really need to work on my lie, I’m so horrible when it comes to lying.

I laid on my bed trying to think about what that woman in black said. I really want Audriene out of my way and I can do anything just to achieve that goal. But I don’t trust that woman one bit.

But since we both want the same thing, I don’t see why we shouldn’t work together. I decided that if she comes tomorrow I will agree to her offer.

REDMAINE’S MANSION

“Go and call Audriene, tell her the guests will soon arrive and it wouldn’t be good if she isn’t present to welcome them”, Mrs Redmaine told one of the maids.

AUDRIENE’S BEDROOM

“Yes, come in”, I said. “Young mistress, madam said you should come downstairs that the guests will be here soon and it won’t be nice if you aren’t there to welcome them”, the maid bowed and said.

“Okay, I’ve heard you. Tell my mum I’ll be downstairs soon”, I told the maid and she left.

I looked at the dress prepared for me on my bed and sighed deeply. The journey starts today.

I put on the red knee length gown with black heels. I didn’t apply too much make up because I don’t like it. Just a little lipstick and powder and I’m good to go.

I allowed my hair to fall freely. I took one last look at the mirror and left my room and headed for the sitting room.

Not long, we heard a knock on the door and assumed it to be the Winston’s. The butler opened the door and we were in the sitting room to receive them.

I only saw the dad and mom, I couldn’t see Arnold anywhere. I was happy he isn’t going to come.

I greeted Mr and Mrs Winston. They replied me in a very nice manner that I started doubting if Arnold is their son.

The dinner was going smoothly until when Arnold entered. My breath seized for a second, I just wished the ground will open up and swallow me whole.

He greeted my mum and sat opposite me on the dining table. I saw the way he ignored his mum earlier when she asked him something. The mum wasn’t happy with his response but she was quick to hide it although I already saw it.

I guess he was forced to come here too with the look on his face.

“Ahem”, Mr Winston cleared his throat to gain everyone’s attention.

“As we all know, we are here to talk about the future of our children. So I was thinking if we just do the engagement party on Audriene’s birthday. It will be a double celebration. What do you all think”, he asked.

“I couldn’t agree less”, my mum said and I choked on the food while Arnold balled his fist in anger, his knuckles almost turned white.

“Why don’t we give the young couple some space, let them get to know each other”, my mum suggested and I couldn’t help but curse her in my heart.

The adults left the place, leaving only me and Arnold. “This is going to be a long day”, I thought to myself.

He was the first to break the ask silence. “I’m sure you are happy because you are getting married to the heir of the Winston family but let me get this straight with you, I can never love anyone, never. I only use them for a night and dump them. So even if you marry me, it won’t change the fact that I will continue to sleep with women so you better reconsider the option of getting married to me”, he said.

I scoffed loudly and said “Don’t think I like to the extent of getting married to you. I was forced just like you but you know what I don’t give a shit about your dirty attitude”, I said.

“Let’s see” he scoffed and left my house angrily. “How dare him tell me he will still be folicking around with all those sluts even when we’re married. Let him bring them home when we’re married and see if I won’t cut her legs off.

SOMEWHERE ON THE ROAD

“James, I said leave me alone. It’s over, don’t you understand”, I yelled at him.

“Babe I know I was wrong but I’m sorry please forgive, I won’t do it again. I really love you”, James said.

I scoffed loudly.”You love me”, I said. “Do you even know what love is. Please I beg you James just leave me, you are making people to gossip”, I said and I was about to walk away when he dragged me back.

“James leave me alone. Where are you taking me to”, I asked and he said “I will let you go after having a taste of you”.

“No James, don’t do this to me please”, I begged him but he didn’t answer. He roughly tore my clothes and I used my hands to cover myself.

He was about to rape me when he suddenly fell down and was holding his head. I became scared and begged him to spare my life.

I thought he was going to kill me but what he did next shocked me. He gave me his blazers to cover my body since my clothes were badly torn and he gave me a ride in his car.

I couldn’t help but thank him and he said I shouldn’t mention that women are supposed to be treated like gold not like sluts he said.

“What did you do that made that man to almost rape you” he asked and I told him I don’t want to talk about it and he agreed.

He’s so handsome I thought to myself. But what if he’s a jerk too. James too is very handsome but he turned out to be a demon.

“By the way, I’m Osiris”, I heard him say. “Nice to meet you, I’m Kimberly but people call me Kim for short”, I said.

“Kim”, he repeated my name. “What a beautiful name for a beautiful damsel like you”, he complimented me and I blushed.

“You’re too cheesy”, I said and he laughed. My breath seized for a second seeing his smile. He looks more handsome when he smiles.

“I’m not being cheesy as you said, I’m only saying the truth”, he said. “Okay then if you say so” I said.

I finally got to my house but before I got down from his car he asked for my number and I gave him.

“See you soon”, he said and I waved. Immediately I entered my house I met angry James sitting on my couch placing an ice block on his bleeding head.

I was so shocked to see him. How did he get here on time. I dropped my bag on the floor. This time who will I call to save me, I knew I was doomed. He slowly looked up and smirked. ” Welcome home. Kim”, he said in a devilish manner.
