“Shit”, Zamiel cursed and came out. Audriene did so too.

Caulder’s car already stopped and they came out.

“Brother, what was that”, Viona asked.

“I don’t know”, Zamiel looked up and saw more of them flying in hundreds.

“Master, I think they are hybrids”, Caulder said.

“I know it’s Melaine. Why can’t she just let us be in peace”, Viona scoffed.

“Audriene get into the, let us take care of these things. I will let you know when it’s safe okay”, Zamiel said softly and kissed me briefly on the lips.

I turned and started going to where the car is. After a few steps, I turned back to look at me and our eyes met

” Be safe”, I muttered but I know he can hear me. Just as I thought he heard me and nodded smiling.

I smiled back at him and entered the car.

Zamiel pulled out a sword alongside with Caulder. Viona used her powers to slow down the hybrids so that it will be easier to kill them.

Sounds of swords slashing could be heard and after a few minutes, they were all dead.

“Just watch out. I think Melaine knows we are going to the kingdom. So be prepared for anything”, Zamiel said to Viona and Caulder.

“Okay Master”, Caulder said and bowed

Zamiel tapped his shoulder and smiled slightly. He turned back and jumped to where Audriene is.

“So fast, are you okay. Did those things hurt you”, I asked without break. I checked his body for bruises and let out a sigh of relief when I didn’t see any.

“You see, I’m okay. Don’t you know how good your future husband is huh”, Zamiel asked playfully and winked.

I started blushing and hit him slightly on his chest.

“Just stop with the sweet words and let’s go”, I said trying to hide my reddened cheeks.

“Okay”, Zamiel pouted like a child.

I started laughing and he turned to look at me.

“What is so funny to you”, he asked

“Nothing. It’s just that you look so childish when you pout your lips”, I said.

“Really”, he asked coming close to me with a dangerous look in his eyes.

“Uhm, no”, I gulped hardly. That look in his eyes is not good.

He used his thumbs to brush my lips and I felt shivers run through my spine.

I know that if I let him do whatever he has in mind, we will not leave this place.

“Zamiel better be focused”, I said and turned my face away

“Fine. You win this time but just know that you can’t run away forever. Just wait till we get married”, Zamiel smirked.

Knowing what he meant, I turned to look outside the window to hide my face because it was already red.

“Why is he so shameless”, I thought.

“Snowflake, I can hear you”, he said.

“Snowflake??”

“Yeah, that’s your new nickname, you better get used to it”, he teased.

“Whatever, not like I can make you change your mind” I scoffed.

We were just playing throughout the ride. The drive was so long so I slept off.

They finally got to the kingdom and the guards were already waiting at the entrance to receive them.

Caulder and Viona came out first. The guards and maids bowed to greet Viona.

Then I came out with Audriene, she was still sleeping and I didn’t feel like waking her up so I carried her like that.

“Master Zamiel, let me help you”, Mariel, one of the guards offered to help.

“Don’t worry”, I said and left.

I carried Audriene to my room and laid her gently on the bed and left the room for the family meeting.

“Greetings mother”, I bowed.

“I thought you will never come back you little rat”, my mum said behaving like a child they did not give candy.

“I’ve been busy that’s why”, I told her the reason.

“Hmph, too busy for your own mother”, my mum said sadly.

“Come on mother, now that I’m here can you smile”, I teased her.

“Leave me alone” my mum smiled.

“Mother is it true”, Viona asked.

“I’m sorry but it is and that is why I called for this meeting”, my mum said.

Viona’s expression changed to a sad one but she didn’t cry because of her mother.

“Zamiel, I know you don’t want to do this but one day you will and that day is near”, my mum said

“What are you talking about mother”, I asked confused.

“You have to take over the throne” my mother stated.

“I’m sorry mother but I don’t think I’m ready for that” I told her my mind.

“You don’t have any other option. All those elders are greedy for power and they will not stop until they have the throne in their hands and the only way to stop that is to ascend the throne”, my mother said

“There should be another way”, I said

“Sorry son but there’s no other way and you know that your father will not be able seeing that all he has worked for, for many years will just be destroyed by the greedy elders. So please think about this. The hope of this kingdom lies in your hands”, my stood up and left.

Viona looked at me with pleading eyes and left.

It was remaining only me in the sitting room. I ran my fingers through my hair. This is too much to bear.

I don’t like politics but now I have to practice it or else my kingdom will be in chaos.

“What is bothering you”, Audriene snapped me out of my thoughts.

“When did you wake up Snowflake”, I asked.

“Just now, I woke up and didn’t see you so I decided to search for you”, Audriene said.

“Oh. I’m in a confused state. My mum wants me to take over the kingdom or else the kingdom will be in trouble”, I said tiredly.

“I really think you should listen to your mother. I mean you don’t want all your father’s hardwork to be in vain”, Audriene said.

“Do you really think I can do it”, I asked her

“I don’t think, I know you can do it”,she hugged me.

“Thanks”, I muttered.

“Come on won’t you show me around this palace”, Audriene suggested.

“Oh sorry, my bad, follow me”, I stood and she followed suit.

Finally, the one hour tour was over and Audriene slumped on the bed.

I chuckled lightly. “Hmm, you’re already tired snowflake”, I teased.

“The tour f**king lasted for one hour. Do you have any idea on how hungry I am”, She groaned.

“I’m coming, let me get you some food”, I opened the door and left.

Shortly after, I came back and placed the food in her front.

“Hmmm, this looks delicious”, Audriene licked her lips.

“Yeah it is. Come on, dig in”, I said.

She took a spoon and threw her head back.

“Arrrgh, this is the best food I’ve ever tasted”, she smiled and rushed the food. In no time, she finished it and rubbed her stomach in satisfaction.

“Zamiel, I hope you don’t mind if I ask you this”, Audriene spoke out of the blue

“I don’t mind Snowflake”, I said.

“Who is this Melaine you keep on mentioning almost all the time”, She asked.

“Do you really want to know who she is”, I asked.

“I won’t ask you if I did want to know”, She answered.

“You see, when I was in my youthful age, I was very ruthless and heartless. So Melaine’s father borrowed a huge amount from me and refused to pay me back. He kept on saying I will pay you back, give me time. It got to a point he even tried to kill me so that he won’t pay the money. Little did he know that I can never die by an ordinary dagger.

I got angry because he tried to kill me. So on one faithful night, I burnt down their house out of anger, making sure they die but unfortunately Melaine escaped with a Scar on her face. Since then, she swore to make my life miserable by taking away my loved ones from me.

She is the one responsible for strangling you, she’s also the one that killed my father. I don’t know if what I did back then was the right thing but because of my mistake, your life is in danger”, I said sadly with a tear drop falling from my eye.

“Don’t feel bad Okay, everything is going to be fine”, Audriene said softly.

“You really think so”, I whispered.

“Yes I do”, she smiled

“I love you”, I said unconsciously.

“Huh??”
