Her response instantly made it even more awkward for the other three of them.

Saber knew very well that Alana was talking to Sean about Chandler’s business, but as her boyfriend,it was inevitable for him to feel a little uncomfortable when he saw that. He said, “Alana, I think I forgotto bring sunscreen. Help me look for it in my luggage.”

Saber left upon saying that. Alana laughed and said to Erin, “I’ll be right back. Let’s have a proper chatlater!”

Sean and Erin were then left standing in the same place. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder andsaid, “Let’s go and have the creamy spinach soup I made for you early this morning today. You’re apregnant lady, and if your man is not around, you have to take good care of yourself.”

“You know how to make soup?” Erin asked with a smile.

Sean raised his eyebrow a little. “What do you mean? Are you looking down on me? I’ve told you I’mquite good at cooking. What’s so hard about making soup?”

Erin looked at his palm. “You can’t get water on your hand, yet you still made soup?”

Feeling touched, he said, “Silly girl, have you not heard of a thing called gloves?”

At that moment, Erin’s phone rang. She said, “Go on to the kitchen. I’ll get his call.”

Sean waved and headed toward the kitchen.

Erin walked to the pool outside the living room to answer the call. As soon as the call got through, shesaid, “Roman, you’re finally calling me. I texted you, but you didn’t reply.”

At that moment, Roman was in his study of his villa back in the country. He was holding a shot of vodkaand was looking a little serious.

“Roman?” Erin asked.

Roman down the shot before putting the glass back on the table. He seemed to have made a hugedecision.

“Erin, I didn’t reply to your text previously because I’ve been very troubled by something. It’s makingme feel very conflicted and miserable. I don’t know what to do to not hurt my friend.”

Feeling confused, Erin asked, “What’s the matter? What happened to your friend?”

Roman said, “I have a good friend who got pregnant recently, but she and her boyfriend are notmarried yet. Her situation is the same as yours. I just found out her boyfriend is already married, but myfriend still had no clue. Do you think I should tell her?”

Erin had not quite connected it to herself yet. She just gave it a thought and asked, “Doesn’t yourfriend’s boyfriend love her? Why did he

marry another woman?”

Roman was dazed for a few seconds after hearing that, then he said, “Just take it as he has reasonshe can’t reveal –

“Is the man also your friend?”

Roman said calmly. “Mm–hmm. He’s also my good friend.”

“That’s going to be tough. Both of them are your good friends, and you said he has his reasons. In anycase, if I were her, I can’t accept being lied to like this. What is it that he can’t tell her in person and hasto lie to her about? It’s a matter of principle, and it shouldn’t be concealed. If I were you, I would tell thewoman the truth,” Erin voiced out what she truly thought.

“But I still have some concerns. I have no idea how it would affect my friend after I tell her the truth. I’mvery worried! If you were her, how would you react after learning the truth?” Roman pretended to askvery casually, but his other hand had long been clenched into a fist as he was very nervous.

Erin found this question a little repulsive deep down. Since Roman asked, she would have no choicebut to imagine if this happened to her.

Just the thought of it made her feel suffocated and her heart pounding irregularly. Erin quicklymassaged her chest.

Her breathing sounded a little heavy. Roman had been very focused the whole time, so he immediatelyasked, “Erin, what’s the matter?”

Erin took a deep breath and said, “I’ve tried to think about your hypothetical question just now, and Ifeel so terrible that I can’t even say a word Roman, don’t ask me. I’ve never encountered such aproblem before, so I really don’t know how to answer you. I’m sorry. I can’t give you any usefulsuggestions regarding your friend’s situation.”

“It’s fine. It’s because I’m also at my wit’s end that I asked you about it. I’ll just put this matter aside forthe time being.” In the end, Roman gave up his decision to tell her the truth.

He was suddenly terrified that he would not be able to bear the consequences if something happenedto Erin because she could not take

it.

Perhaps it was best for Chandler to tell her himself.

“Roman, I don’t feel so well. I’m going to hang up for now. Perhaps it’s because I haven’t had breakfast,I’m feeling a little dizzy. Let’s talk

again next time.” Erin glanced at the lounge chair not far from her and walked over.

Roman felt guilty. “I’m sorry, Erin. I’ve made you share my troubles

“It’s fine. We’re friends. We can talk about anything. I’m going to go now.”

“Erin!”

Erin frowned a little while holding her phone. “Mm–hmm. I’m here.”

With an extremely serious tone, Roman said. “If you want to find a quiet place to stay one day, you cancall me anytime. No matter where it

is, I’ll keep you company! Promise that you’ll take good care of yourself for the sake of your friends likeus who love you!”

His unusual behavior gave Erin a faint sense of foreboding. She kept feeling as if Roman hadsomething to say at that moment.

However, Erin did not ask. She just said, “I will. Thank you for your concern, Roman.”

After hanging up the call, Erin did not return indoors immediately. Instead, she chose to sit on thelounge chair. Looking at the

incomparably beautiful view, she suddenly felt dazed like she was in a fake world.

It was too quiet and beautiful here. The sea was too clear. It was as if everything was telling her thatshe did not belong here. 1

Chandler’s perfect face popped into her head for a brief moment and a question appeared without herrealizing it. What if Chandler also did

not belong to her?

It was after she answered Roman’s call that she started to be aware and think about her relationshipwith Chandler.

Just when she started to connect that the good friend Roman had mentioned was her, she got a text.

The person who texted her was Jack.

Her bodyguard, Jack, had never texted her before. He usually would just call her straight away. Erin’sfingers froze for a while before she

opened the text.

The content of the text read. “Miss Lane, I have something very important to tell you. I can’t keep lyingto you anymore. It makes me feel very guilty. Because this has to do with Mr. Frost, I hope you canmeet me alone.”

Erin’s mind immediately went blank and her heart suddenly started to pound. She thought of whatRoman had told her over the phone

earlier again.

At that moment, she wanted to call Jack immediately. However, thinking of what Jack said, she stilltexted him instead, “Alright. Where should I meet you?”

Jack quickly replied, “If it’s alright with you, let’s set sail. This matter is too serious. If Mr. Frost’s friendsand Hans learn about it, I’ll be in

big trouble.”

A little voice in her head told her maybe she should bring another person along with her. However, afterthinking about it, Alana and Sean were both Chandler’s friends and Hans was also his man.

Jack had been with her for some time. No matter if it was his character or his work ethic, he was anhonest, dutiful and diligent person. He

had never made any mistakes!

Erin texted him in reply. “Alright. Where should we meet?”

Jack was at a restaurant at that moment. A cold gaze appeared in his eyes as he quickly texted, “Let’smeet at Number 26, Oceanic

Restaurant in twenty minutes.”

Erin agreed, then she returned to the living room to tell Sean that she wanted to get some mangos fromthe fruit stand. It so happened that there were no mangos in the refrigerator anymore, so she could usethat as an excuse.

Sean was preparing breakfast in the kitchen. “Alright. Breakfast will be ready when you get back.”

Erin nodded with a smile and left.

Never would she have known that three years of her life would be ruined after she left!
