Claudette was not a braggart; otherwise, she would not have chosen to work

her way up at Lenoir Group, except when people pushed her buttons and

forced her to show her assertive side as the princess of the Lenoir family.

Hence, it was natural that she wouldn’t stoop down to Abellyn’s level as

Abellyn was just showing off in the Lowe Residence.

At this moment, Mackenzie walked into the Lowe Residence, and the cold air

surrounding her attracted glances all around her. She had clearly overheard

Abellyn’s earlier conversation and couldn’t keep her small lips from curling

upward. However, like Claudette, she would rather not waste her time with a

woman like Abellyn and let her continue to delude herself like the ignorant

fool she was.

On the other hand, Abellyn could not contain her anger upon observing the

subtle changes in Mackenzie’s expression. “What are you smiling at,

Mackenzie? Don’t think too highly of yourself; in Yeringham, there are many

more capable people than you!” As she spoke, she recalled seeing Ms.

Quillen at the banquet the other day. Back then, she thought that the two

shared a similar silhouette, but as she watched Mackenzie walk into the Lowe

Residence with a lack of grandeur, it was a stark contrast from the reverence

Abellyn had witnessed the other day, and she knew that she had definitely

gotten the wrong person. Therefore, she concluded that the two were not in

the same league and could not be the same person!

Nevertheless, Mackenzie didn’t say a word, but the serenity in her eyes made

her look like an eagle unfazed by the nearby magpie’s chatter.

When Alessandra learned that Mackenzie had arrived, she hurriedly rushed

out and tightly gripped her hand.

When she realized she couldn’t continue berating Mackenzie, Abellyn was

forced to swallow her rage and could only let out an angry huff before

leaving.

“Where do you think you’re going, Abellyn?” Ryder, who had been assisting in

the kitchen with dinner preparations, dashed outside when he heard his wife

arguing with another person, just in time to see her walking away, and

shouted after her.

“It’s none of your business! Just take care of yourself!” she roared, using him

as an outlet for her anger.

Since her husband had a bone to pick with her, he lost his temper upon

hearing her words. “If you dare to leave, we’re getting a divorce!”

However, this was what Abellyn was waiting for. Chloe had previously

advised her not to bring up the topic of divorce so that no one would suspect

she had already found a new partner. Although Abellyn’s execution was

imperfect, she took advantage of his words and barked, “Then, so be it! No

one in their right mind would want to spend the rest of their lives with a

worthless man like you who earns only a few hundred every month! Go

ahead and live in poverty alone!”

“Y-You-” Ryder’s face flushed crimson, and he nearly lost his temper when

Alessandra hurriedly stopped them as the head of the family.

Meanwhile, Jack and his wife were already reluctant to pitch in with the

chores before the fight broke out, and they’re even less inclined to do so now.

All of a sudden, no one was doing any work.

At that moment, Emmanuel was frantically busying himself in the kitchen and

was hoping to find someone who would help him when Claudette and

Mackenzie unexpectedly walked in. In a split second, he felt a wave of panic

wash over him. What is this happening?

“What’s going on? Is this the wedding banquet?”

Just then, the groom and his family arrived at the door.

bride alongside their other relatives. According to the wedding traditions in

supposed to attend the bride’s wedding banquet. However, the bride and her

family were required to be present at the groom’s banquet as that was the

formal event. This tradition accorded great respect to the groom’s family,

and the groom had already provided a dowry of 30 thousand in advance.

However, Jessica blew a fuse when she witnessed the mayhem at the Lowe

family’s banquet and learned that a couple threatened to divorce.

“Didn’t we give your family 30 thousand as a dowry? Is it that difficult to host

a banquet at a hotel, yet you insist on hosting it at home to save money?
