Just then, however, Marc said coldly, “Mister Penn is a member of the Department of Paranormal Research and Defense, which makes us unqualified to deal with him. You’re free to raise whatever concerns you have to the department.”

Everyone looked nothing but confused. What kind of department was this, and why had they never heard of it before?

Marc saying that he was ‘unqualified to deal with Wilbur’ alone, however, was enough to imply that Wilbur was someone even Marc could not afford to mess with.

The crowd blinked in shock, a chill running down their spines.

Who was this man for Marc to render himself unable to do anything about him, and even stand up for him?

At the same time, Marc sneered coldly. “Take these people away. Also, everyone else in this room is forbidden from leaving the province until the investigation is over.”

The remaining businessmen began to tremble at once.

Many of them had done their fair share of unsavory things, which was going to land them in quite a bit of trouble.

Dani was all the more in shock, curling into a ball on the floor as she trembled, devoid of any of the authoritative air she had from just now.

Hugh and the others were taken away, and the reporters were warned not to report on anything that had happened there before they were told to leave as well.

The remaining guests filed out slowly, looking nothing but distressed.

All these people had a family and businesses to their name here, and there was nowhere they could run to.

Just then, Wilbur stood up to help Dani to her feet.

Dani’s gaze was now hollow as she stared at Wilbur in a daze.

Wilbur smiled at her. “It’s not good being so arrogant. There are countless people in the world much, much stronger than you will ever be. That’s my lesson to you, and I hope you remember it, so you never go down the wrong path again.”

Wilbur let go after he was done, and Dani crumpled to the floor once more.

Just then, Marc said, “Mister Penn! Why don’t we find somewhere quiet to have a little chat?”

“Sure. You alright, Ryder?” Wilbur asked.

Ryder’s wounds had stopped bleeding, but his wounds still had to be tended to.

Marc said at once, “Send Mister Litwing to the hospital right now to have his wounds treated.”

“Yes, sir.” Someone came forward at once and led Ryder away.

Wilbur and Wesley headed outside with Marc after that.

Wesley walked past Dani on the way out, glancing at her distressed state.

He felt nothing but vindicated.

This evil, ruthless woman had been the culprit behind draining Miller Corp completely under the guise of buying shares, taking everything they owned from them, and pushing Wesley’s parents to their deaths.

Now that Vale had been arrested, Dani was pretty much trapped as well. The only thing waiting for her was a jail sentence.

Wesley could hardly contain his emotions.

Not long after, Wilbur and Wesley got into Marc’s car and headed to a VIP lounge in a personal club.

The table was already laden with a feast when they entered.

Wesley sat down shakily, holding onto Wilbur for balance.

To tell the truth, even the gesture of sitting at the same table as Marc Forsythe gave Wesley a good deal of pressure.

“I’m so sorry, Mister Penn. I can’t believe something like this happened within the area I was in charge of. I will take full responsibility for it,” Marc said, pouring Wilbur a glass of wine.

Wilbur nodded. “That’s alright, it’s normal. Every herd has its black sheep.” Marc nodded profusely, pouring Wesley a glass as well.

Wesley was shocked by the gesture, hurrying to stand and bow in gratitude.

“I need to apologize to you too, Mister Miller. You had to face a terrible injustice because of my incompetence. I promise I’ll punish Vale, Hugh, and the others as they deserve, and give you the justice you deserve as well. It’s the least I can do for your parents, in hopes that they rest in peace,” Marc said with a hand on his chest.

Wesley could not hold his tears back any longer.

Anyone would be emotional at having someone like Marc apologize to them personally and say that he was going to avenge their parents for them.

Wesley turned to Wilbur slowly.
