Wilbur could not help but sigh.

He put down the halberd, leaving his demiplane to return to his room.

Wilbur sat down in the living room and glanced at the time. Three whole days had passed since he had entered the demiplane.

He then made plans to see Faye at night, so he could talk about Nancy’s arrangement with her for good.

There had to be a solution to this. Nancy could not live the rest of her life like this.

Just then, however, Wilbur frowned at the door. “Do you need something, Charles?”

“Sir, Wesley Miller’s fainted at the bridge. What should I do?” Charles asked cautiously.

Wilbur frowned, before saying, “Bring him in here.”

“Yes, Sir.” Charles hurried off at once.

Wilbur let out a sigh, staring blankly into space.

At the end of the day, there were some things he could not bear to let happen when he had the ability to help.

Soon after that, Charles and another staff member carried Wesley in, who was now unconscious.

Wilbur gestured for them to place Wesley down on the couch.

“You can leave now,” said Wilbur after that.

Charles left with the other staff members, and Wilbur shook his head before channeling some spiritual energy into Wesley.

Mere seconds later, Wesley began to stir.

He looked around blearily before his gaze finally landed on Wilbur.

The next second, Wesley collapsed to his knees before bursting into tears.

“Please help me, sir! Please! I can’t live in this agony.”

Wilbur helped him back into his chair, pouring him a glass of water.

Wesley drained the glass in seconds.

“Tell me what happened, then,” said Wilbur.

Wesley reorganized his thoughts, wiping his tears away before saying, “My family, the Millers, own a company in Dansun City, Exodus Province. We’ve got a few hundred million dollars in assets. Everything was fine until two months ago when a meeting was called between the three big clans in Exodus Province. Something about forming a business chamber of alliance. My dad showed up without a second thought, but those bastards plotted against us and took our company and all our family assets away. My dad couldn’t take it and died from a heart attack. My mother was so sad that she hung herself. Authorities refused to do anything about it. I only came to ask for your help because there’s nothing I can do.” Wilbur was silent for a long time, before saying, “How did you know about me?” “People in the cultivator’s circle say that you can solve any problem, b-but you need a fair payment in exchange like an antique or something. T-the thing is, I haven’t got a dime to my name now. However, if you help me get my company back, I’m willing to give you half the assets that belong to my family. I swear on my life,” Wesley said, looking at Wilbur weakly. It was clear that he was not confident that this would turn out the way he wanted it to.

Wilbur glanced at him. “If you keep your word, I don’t mind helping you.”

“I swear I’m telling the truth! I swear on my life, please!” Wesley said hurriedly, putting a hand over his chest.

Wilbur nodded. “Let’s go and take a look, then. It seems like these people who screwed you over must be pretty powerful, considering the fact that they were able to turn the authorities against you too.”

“You’re right,” said Wesley miserably. “The three big clans own the three biggest business empires in all of Exodus Province. They have ties to the government, the police, and other forces. Small business owners like us can’t do a thing against them.”

Wilbur nodded. That was more than normal, as it definitely took some connections to have a business so big.

Even Cape International had ties to quite a few government figures. On top of that was Wilbur’s position in Kardon Province too, making Cape completely untouchable.

“How about I have a look for myself? I’ll help you out if you really are telling the truth,” said Wilbur.

Wesley fell to his knees, with tears in his eyes. “Thank you, sir.”

“Don’t thank me so soon. I have a condition that you might not be the biggest fan of,” said Wilbur calmly.
