LIVING WITH A DEVIL - EPISODE 77 AND 78

Seth’s soul was sad as it left him but this is surely not what was planned.

He took just one step before looking back at his dead body on the bed and Sophia who’s acting like a lunatic, crying so much while the doctors try to hold her under control.

He only just met her today after eight years of being apart and now he’s leaving?

He looked at Nora, his adorably cute little sis….he won’t dare trade her for another.

She’s lying there unconsciously all because of him too, he badly wants to continue seeing her.

Then his mind shifted to Sapphire and all the romantic memories they shared flooded his head

How they first met, their talks, the time they spent together…the voom sound at the arcade when she clinged unto him tightly, the police chase, kissing her tattoo, taking her to his room when she was drunk, when she kissed her and…the time they spend everytime at the arcade, staring at the flower bed together, the skin dip at the river and the confession, countless kisses and sweet s*x, her laughter and smiles, her s*xiness which she always couldn’t get enough of….

Everything kept pouring Into his head in torrents and his eyes widened.

“No, I don’t want to leave yet, I don’t want to, I wanna go back” he said.

Five minutes later**

Sophia stopped struggling with the doctors and her mind went to Sonia.

She brought out her gun and started heading out but she was blocked.

“Mrs Langford you can’t go out like that, you can’t harm in this situation” the head doctor said

” Move, I need to kill someone” she glared and pushed the doctor.

“He moved!” One of the doctors said, rushing to Seth.

“Is that a tactic to stop me?” Sophia said unbelievably.

” He really moved I’m serious” he replied and Seth’s fingers moved under the cloth again, Sophia saw it too this time and she hid her gun before rushing there.

The clothe was taken off his body and he was checked.

“His heartbeat is back” the head doctor said after checking it with the stethoscope.

“Really?, My honey is back?, How?” Sophia said shockingly.

” We don’t know too, but this only happens to people who have strong will and desire to live” he replied and Sophia readily excused them as they started attending to him.

She stayed in the hallway quietly, hoping he won’t leave again.

That short moment when she saw him covered with the lousy blue clothe, she almost died too… Michael is her life, Nora is what she lives for.

She breathed heavily and paced more.

“Please be fine, my babies” she said hopefully.

She didn’t wait long before the doctors came out.

“He’s stable now though he’s still on the critical line but I believe he’ll make it” he said

” He’ll surely make it, he responds to treatment very well and he heals fast” she replied.

” Great, it’s not advisable for you to go in there cos he needs not even the slightest noise” he said.”

“It’s ok I can watch him from here” she replied.

“Nora is fine, she passed out as a result of shock, she’d wake up soon” he said.

” I know” she replied and the doctor took a bow before leaving.

Sophia breathed loudly and sat on the available chair , she wiped the traces of tears on her face and smiled.

“He’ll make it, he can do it I’m sure” she said to herself.

“Mrs Langford” Mr Bills said from the other end of the hallway and she quickly looked that way.

“Mr Bills?” She said surprisingly.

“Yes it’s me, thanks for surviving” he replied, finally getting to her.

“What did she do in my absence?” She asked.

“She refused to partner with me and threatened me cos I failed to persuade Mr McCoy to partner with her” he replied.

” She’s a lunatic” she replied.

“I know right?, Now that the real Sophia is back, I’m just so overwhelmed” Mr Bills said.

” She almost ruined everything” Sophia said.

” But everything will come back to normal now that you’re here, how is Michael doing?” He asked.

” I almost lost him some minutes ago but….he’s back” she replied.

” Oh thank goodness, and Nora?”

” She’s in with him, she fainted cos of shock but she’ll be ok” she replied.

” Yes, they’ll be ok, you need to be calm now and hope for the best, not after the hellish treatment from Sonia, they should wake up soon” he said.

” I hope so” she replied slowly.

” You’re strong” he said.

“I know right?, After everything I passed through and now my babies are unconscious” she said sadly.

” I trust you’d be ok madam Sophia” he said and she sighed.

“By the way I came with his friends from Washington” he said.

” Really?, Where are they?” She asked eagerly and the guys entered, everyone of them.

“I…I’m… Rowen” Rowen said awkwardly.

“Your son?” Sophia said, facing Mr Bills.

“Yeah he is, I wanted to introduce him to Micheal before that incident eight years ago, then Sonia started denying my access into the mansion, no chance anymore” he said

” You both knew each other before the incident?” Rowen asked surprisingly.

“Yes, your dad and my late husband were good friends so I happened to be close to him too” Sophia replied.

” Unbelievable” Rowen smiled.

” Hardin” Hardin said politely.

“Blaine” Blaine smiled.

“Clark” he waved but Jacinthe pulled his hand down.

“Jacinthe” she said

“Nadia” Nadia said simply

” I’m glad he has friends like you guys…. from Washington…by the way why was he there?” Sophia asked.

” He ran away from home when Sonia told him about the engagement, he went to Washington and lived a low key life with them” Mr Bills said.

” My honey must have suffered so much” Sophia said.

“Honey?, how sweet” Jacinthe whispered.

“Seriously the life he lived in Washington was the best, he was with his pretty so he never experienced sadness” Blaine said.

” He must love her so much” Sophia said.

” Their love is one of a kind” Nadia said.

“Then, where’s she right now?, Why is she not here?” Sophia asked.

” I dunno too, her line is always not reachable and anytime we call her mum, she always says she’s ok” Clark said.

” The truth is, she was threatened by Sonia” Mr Bills said.

” What are you talking about?” Rowen said.

“I just didn’t want to get you guys worried, that’s why I didn’t tell you. Mr McCoy spoke to me and told me everything, Sonia ordered Julia’s kidnap and forced Sapphire to break up with Michael before releasing her” Mr Bills said and Sophia gasped.

” She found out about the phone” Rowen said.

“She had to save her mum from the edge of a cliff, Julia was shot on the arm”

” What!” Nadia and Jacinthe exclaimed.

” Sapphire got shot too, on the arm” Mr Bills further said.

“The hell!, No wonder, I said was, something is wrong somewhere” Rowen said.

“Cruelty” Hardin muttered sadly.

” Is Sapphire ok now?, Do you have her line?, Can I speak to her?” Sophia asked hastily.

” She was ordered to throw her phone away so she’s not with a phone right now, but I have Julia’s line though we’ve never talked” Mr Bills said

” Give me her line right now, she must be ok together with her daughter, and that breakup is not real, she can’t possibly leave my Micheal” Sophia said and took Mr Bills phone, fishing out Julia’s line.

“Micheal is stable, you guys should put your mind at rest” Mr Bills said .

” I’m glad” Rowen smiled and the rest only smiled happily.

” What about Nora?” Clark asked.

“She fainted when Michael nearly left her, but she’s recovering” Mr Bills replied and Clark heaved.

Washington**

Julia just finished feeding Sapphire though she ate just little from the food.

Her hands are always shaking so it’s Impossible to eat by herself, she’s always shivering… maybe cold and fear.

She’s not ok a bit, she talks slowly and only talks a few times.

Julia gave her water which she drank little from.

“Can I go somewhere?” She asked.

“Where?, I’ll take you there” Julia replied, holding her shaking hands.

” An arcade down the road” she said Julia smiled.

“I’ll take you”

“No, I want to go alone” she replied.

“You’re not totally ok, please let me go with you” Julia said.

” What if I promise to be fine?, I’ll only spend a short time there” she replied and Julia sighed.

” It’s still dangerous for you to go alone” Julia insisted.

Sapphire stared blankly at her and she leaned in to kiss her forehead.

She got another sweater and put it on for her.

“Don’t take long, I’ll be waiting” she smiled and Sapphire nodded slowly before standing.

She walked slowly out of the house and Julia closed her eyes slowly.

“Bring back the real Sapp … Let Seth be ok wherever he is, that’s the only way she can be ok too, I don’t want to lose my daughter” she said.

Her phone rang and she made to ignore the unknown number but she later decided to pick.

“Madam Julia?” The unfamiliar voice spoke.

“Who’s this?” She asked dryly.

” Sophia, Sophia Langford” the voice replied.

” Huh?” Julia said surprisingly.

” It’s me, Micheal’s mum” Sophia replied.

“It’s really…you?”

” Yes, I’m so sorry, I’m really very sorry madam, everything your daughter might have passed through cos of my son, I know it’s not easy but please overlook it for the sake of my son, I can’t lose him I beg you” she said pleadingly.

” He did nothing wrong, all he did was love my daughter with all his heart” Julia replied.

” Heard you both got shot, how’s the wound faring?, Are you both ok?” She asked.

” I’m ok but…my daughter is not, she has been sullen and silent, she eats little too and she’s dull, I’m scared” Julia replied sincerely.

” Nothing will happen to her, immediately Michael wakes up, I’ll make sure he gets to Washington without delay, I’m sure he’d have missed her more, I seriously want my son to be happy just like you want Sapphire to be, can I speak to her?” Sophia asked.

” She went out for a walk right now” Julia replied.

“I’ll have to call back, please continue taking care of her and I’ll take good care of Micheal too, please let’s bring them back together” Sophia said.

” I can’t ask for more” Julia smiled.

” I’m sorry once again for everything” Sophia said.

” It’s ok” Julia replied.

” Bye ”

Night… New York**

Sophia went back into the room in which Sonia was locked and met her laying on the floor already, groaning in pains from time to time.

“Petra’s mum” Sophia said.

Sonia couldn’t reply, she’s too weak to do that…the pain from her legs is eating her up.

Sophia laughed loudly before pulling her to sit, holding her hair roughly.

“The whole world will know of your dirty secrets tommorow, they know it already but the fact that Petra is your daughter…. unbelievable” she said and let her go, Sonia fell weakly.

“You’re…. really mean, I’m still your twin sister remember?, Treat me with care” Sonia said and Sophia smiled.

” Yes, I’ll treat you with care” she said and snapped her fingers, a guard brought in bottled water.

Sophia’s took it and gave it to Sonia.

“You must be so thirsty” she said, opening it.

Sonia sat up and took it quickly, she gulped it down her throat in a short time and Sophia smiled.

Sonia felt different immediately she finished drinking it, pains ran through her system and she felt like her bones are cracking.

“The water contains poison, extremely slow one, it’ll crack all the bones in your body till you die in misery, you’ll live in pains for over four months in prison before dying” Sophia said and Sonia gasped.

” What did you do” she whimpered holding her throat, she started vomiting blood.

“I told you I won’t let you die easily for doing that to my Micheal, and now here it is … The bullets in your leg will be removed tommorow before you’ll go to court but even after that, you’ll remain crippled for the rest of your life cos I didn’t shoot you with ordinary bullets, you’ll surely land in life imprisonment tommorow together with the slow poison in your system, what do you think will happen” Sophia smiled and stood.

Sonia kept groaning as she left the room.

Next day, court**

Sonia was guided in by cops, she’s limping and looks out of life.

She was taken to where she’s supposed to sit on and made to sit, she’s weak and obviously tired.

Nora is sitting beside Sophia, she woke up last night.

Members of the press and lots of personalities are present including Mr McCoy and Mr Bills then Rowen and the guys.

The case was read and Sonia kept looking at everyone dumbly.

“Are you guilty or not?”

Sonia only looked on.

“She has no attorney” a cop said.

“That’s because ….I have nothing to…to say” Sonia stuttered painfully.

” So, you’re admitting to everything including the video of how you killed your twin… Sophia to take over her wealth, you impersonate her and used her name, maltreated and abused her children, killed Carlos Holmes because he has the evidence, enforced engagement with Petra Brooke on the first child” the attorney said.

” Petra is my daughter” she replied.

” What!” Petra shouted from where she’s sitting.

” Isn’t that why you’re like me?, You saw the video with Carlos before coming to report to me, you saw me killing in the video, why did you come to report to me instead of the cops” Sonia said.

” I don’t know what you’re talking about!, I’m not your daughter!” Petra screamed.

” What’s she talking about” Mr Brooke said patiently.

“Zack’s orphanage eighteen years ago, I dropped her in a white shawl, I placed her in a white fancy basket” she said.

” That was what the owner of the orphanage said about Petra” Mrs Brooke said.

” What! ” Petra said.

” You’re my daughter! ” Sonia shouted and coughed blood.

” No I’m not!, I’m not your daughter!!!” Petra screamed, running out of the place.

” You sure committed a lot of crimes Mrs Sonia” the judge said and the attorney sat.

Her crimes were listed and Sophia smiled, holding Nora tightly to herself..

“You got what you deserve” she said.

“You’re sentenced to life imprisonment” the judge said and Sophia hugged Nora.

The judge left and Sonia was taken away by the cops, her leg is bleeding and the blood is staining the ground as she limped out with them.

“Yes!” Mr Bills shouted, hugging Rowen.

“I’m f*cking glad” Rowen beamed.

“This is the best news I’ve ever heard” Blaine said.

” Cool cool” Hardin smiled.

Jacinthe hugged Nadia.

Sophia broke the hug with Nora and Mr McCoy appeared.

“Mr McCoy?” She smiled and they hugged slightly.

He was also a friend to late Jake Langford so they were close. After Sophia woke up from coma, she once met him in Dublin, he was the first person to know her as the real Sophia.

“Thanks for standing by me” she said.

“It’s nothing, thanks for staying alive for your kids” he replied and Susan appeared.

” Susan ” Sophia smiled and hugged her.

“Thanks for everything, I hope we remain friends forever” she said.

“Of course” she replied

Nora made her way to the guys and smiled when she saw Clark.

“Hey” he smiled too

She moved closer and Rowen coughed insincerely.

Nora hugged Clark and he reciprocated immediately.

“Whoa!” Jacinthe and and Nadia jointly said surprisingly.

“I missed you” Nora whispered.

” Somehow, I did too” he replied.

A week later**

The Langford’s conglomerates has been set straight completely.

Surprisingly it took a lot of time but maybe Sophia’s connections as Karen Chad helped her more.

She fired all the guards and maids and hired new ones.

The only thing remaining for her to become a totally happy woman is Michael, he’s still not waking up.

Hospital**

“I’m starting to get scared, it’s been a week already and you’re telling me to keep calm, I’m seriously losing it” she said to the head doctor who beamed a smile.

” He might be unconscious but trust me he’s responding to treatment and he’s improving” he said.

” I won’t believe that till he wakes up” she replied.

” And I’m promising you that he’s ok. If he’s not, I’d have let you know” the doctor said and she sighed.

” I want to believe that but_

The telephone rang, interrupting her.

“Excuse me madam, I have to take this” he said and picked up.

He hung up a minute later and stood up immediately, Sophia looked at him questioningly.

“He’s up” he said.

“Are you kidding?” She said surprisingly, spranging up.

He rushed out of the office and she went after him, running till they got to the ward

His friends and Nora are there and two doctors are already attending to him.

“He suddenly moved his eyelids” Nora said and Sophia sighed.

“Please honey, wake up for real this time” she said loudly.

The head doctor took over and for over five minutes, he got checked.

“You can go see him” he said to Sophia who rushed to him on the bed.

His eyes are wide opened and he smiled faintly when he saw her.

“Mum” he whispered and Sophia hugged him on the bed.

“My honey” she cried happily.

“I’m not dead” he said slowly.

“No you didn’t, and you won’t” she replied, looking him in the eye.

She kissed his forehead and he smiled shortly.

“What says the time?” He asked

“7pm” she replied

” It’s late, then can I go to Washington tommorow?, I wanna go…. I need to see her tomorrow, I miss her like crazy and…..I need her mum, I won’t be ok if I don’t kiss her lips” he said.
