One journalist held the microphone and exclaimed, “The waitress is over there!” People immediately flocked to Aria Liu like bees.

Some other people hastily brought Rebecca to the hospital while others surrounded Aria Liu and pushed her to the corner. All of them were asking different questions that she already couldn’t comprehend.

“Why did you poison Rebecca?”

“Why do you hate her?” “Why did you do that to her?”

“What kind of poison did you put into her wine?” “Will her life be in danger?”

As she heard all these questions, her head went blank. She couldn’t fathom why she was being questioned and blamed. She didn’t even know what really happened.

All of a sudden, an emotional fan of Rebecca ran to Aria Liu and directly slapped her. The fan angrily shouted, “How dare you hurt my goddess. I’ll kill you now!”
. Everything was a mess. Fans approached Aria Liu and hit her in every part of her body.

Aria Liu felt the pain all over her body. She realized that everything was already out of control. Besides, she was all alone against the so many fans of Rebecca. How could she even defend herself?

Who could she ask for help? Her mother was still in the hospital and she had no idea where she was. Charlotte was working at her company. Lawrence was still abroad.

Aria Liu’s tears flowed out freely while her mouth started to bleed. She covered her head with her hands and fell to the floor. She tried to withstand all the kicks and punches of many people around her.

After half an hour, the police finally arrived. However, Aria Liu already passed out.

When Aria Liu opened her eyes, she saw some people standing around her.

She tried to remember what happened but she could only feel her head hurting so badly. She saw two doctors standing next to her and a policewoman on the other side.

The policewoman said, “You’re awake.” “Where am I?” Aria Liu asked. She looked around but she didn’t really have any idea where she was now.

“This is the infirmary of the Public Security Bureau,” the policewoman replied.

Then a doctor said, “You’re fine. You just suffered some minor bruises but I’ve stitched them up already. There are also some swollen parts in your body but you will be fine after taking the anti-inflammatory medicines on time.”

After hearing what the doctor said, Aria Liu remembered what happened. She fainted at the ribbon-cutting ceremony when Rebecca’s fans hit her mercilessly. She didn’t have the strength to fight back at that time so she just accepted all their kicks and punches.

Aria Liu didn’t mind the pain in her head as she tried to sit up. She held the policewoman’s hand and hastily said, “Officer, I didn’t hurt Rebecca. I swear. I didn’t know that her wine was poisoned. After I took the wine from the staff, I only stayed there with my two colleagues beside the stage. I didn’t go anywhere so there was really no chance for me to put anything on her wine.”

The policewoman saw that Aria Liu desperately explained herself despite the pain she was suffering. But she just shook her hands off and said, “We’ll see after further investigation. I can’t give you any answers for now.”

As she felt the policewoman’s coldness towards her, Aria Liu was quite sad. Furthermore, when everyone blamed her for poisoning Rebecca earlier, she realized that there was really no one she could rely on. All of a sudden, she was overwhelmed with fear.

The policewoman continued, “You just take a rest here first. Then I’ll take you to my office in the afternoon. My colleagues will also be investigating Rebecca. We will talk after we both finished questioning the two of you to determine what really happened.”

Then she looked at the two doctors and said, “Please take care of her and call me if she has any problems.”

“Okay,” the doctors replied in chorus.

Afterwards, the policewoman left and the two doctors followed.

While they were on their way out, Aria Liu overheard the two doctors’ conversation.

“She doesn’t seem to be a bad person. How dare she hurt a famous actress? Does she want to die?” said one doctor to the other.

Aria lowered her head. She sat still on the hospital bed while tears kept falling down her face. The thought that no one from her family and friends knew that she was in a police station flustered her.
Aria Liu tried to touched her pocket to check if her phone was there. To her dismay, her pocket was empty. She remembered that she changed into a waitress’ uniform during the ribbon-cutting ceremony so her clothes, handbag and phone were in the locker of the dressing room provided by the agency to them. She hoped her phone wouldn’t be stolen. Once Lawrence returned from his trip, he would definitely call her.

She looked outside the window. She suddenly felt desperate as she stared at the sunshine outside. Her whole world turned dark. Until now, she still couldn’t tell what exactly had happened.

In the hospital.

Rebecca slowly opened her eyes. She saw a lot of reporters and journalists with their cameras surrounding her. Her assistant and her agent were beside her hospital bed.

Rebecca pretended to be weak and frowned to show that she was in pain.

The assistant was the first to speak up, “Rebecca, you’re finally awake. How do you feel?” “I’m fine. I’m fine,” Rebecca replied in a low voice. She pretended to be very exhausted.

Meanwhile, the doctor came in.

The journalists and the reporters immediately aimed their cameras to the doctor.
