“Of course. Even though we are not the ones assigned to her, we can still see her on stage,” answered the other one.

“I guess she put on a heavy makeup. Celebrities always put on a lot of makeup during events like this,” one assumed.

“Even so, we can still see her features,” the other one countered.

When she heard the two whispering to each other, she thought they were also Rebecca’s fans.

However, she wasn’t really interested in their conversation. She just felt happy that she was going to see her idol.

“You three over there, get ready. It’s your turn,” a man’s yell reached their ears. The three of them stood straight and behaved humbly. After having a training yesterday, they already knew their work assignment and the proper conduct required.

Aria Liu wore a warm smile on her face. She stood straight and carried a tray with a glass of wine in her both hands. One of the staff gave the liquor to her.

“Now, let’s welcome our guests on the stage to start our ribbon-cutting ceremony. May I call on our dearest CEO, our general manger, and the famous star Rebecca,” the host announced.

Thunderous applause broke out.

Rebecca went up the stage and stood at the center. Two men in black suits followed and stood on her both sides.

They exchanged diplomatic smiles and picked up the scissors on the trays that the waitresses brought to them. Then they cut the ribbons simultaneously.

When they put the scissors back on the trays, the waitresses took their leave.

After that, the three waitresses came up the stage with trays of wine on their hands.

Rebecca leered at the three waitresses and finally rested her eyes on the girl at the middle. ‘She must be Aria Liu, ‘ she speculated.

Rebecca’s assistant had fixed her eyes on Aria since the latter went to the stage. She knew that this girl would suffer something unbearable in any moment.

With cameras and cell phones in their hands, the reporters and a flock of Rebecca’s fans crazily took pictures of the pop star and the special guests on the stage.

The three young waitresses got to the middle of the stage elegantly. When they stopped in front of the guests, they smiled at them courteously. That was what they were required to do.

Rebecca met Aria Liu’s gaze without even a hint of hatred in her large beautiful eyes.

“Thank you,” Rebecca said politely with a fake smile as she took the wine from the tray Aria held. Then she took her eyes off from her.

When she heard that her idol thanked her, Aria Liu basked in delight inwardly. However, as a waitress, she was not allowed to show any emotions on her face. Fortunately, she made it. The three of them needed to wait for the guests to drink their wines before they could go off the stage so they waited patiently.

Rebecca gladly clinked the glass in her hand to the guests’ glasses. Then she turned to face the reporters and the fans and gave them a brilliant smile. She slightly raised her glass to the audience.
The moment she did it, the deafening cheerful screams erupted among the fans.

“I love you, Rebecca!”

“Rebecca, you are my angel!”

With the attention of the crowd, Rebecca downed the wine.

Then she put the glass back to the tray without even casting a glance at Aria Liu. She snickered in her heart.

‘Seems like everything is going smoothly according to my plans, ‘ she thought. Aria set the tray and lined up with the other two waitresses. As instructed to them, they headed for the corner and leave the stage.

Rebecca landed her gaze on her assistant. The latter nodded at her which meant that she could already start her acting.

The instant Aria Liu raised her leg in an attempt to walk down the stairs, she heard some voices from behind.

“Miss Rebecca! Miss Rebecca!”

“What’s wrong with her?”

“What’s going on?”

The audience started to panic, all exclaiming in shock.

The noises piqued the curiosity of the three waitresses who were about to leave. They all together turned their gazes towards the middle of the stage. Rebecca’s face turned deadly pale. As her legs and feet turned limp, she fell to the arms of the CEO who was standing next to her. Her eyes were half open and her red lips became bloodless.

Rebecca’s assistant dashed onto the stage madly. Carrying their cameras and microphones, all the reporters also squeezed their way in and moved closer to Rebecca.

“Rebecca! Rebecca! Are you okay?” the assistant asked. She pretended to look worried as she held Rebecca’s hand.

“I… I don’t feel comfortable. My stomach…” Rebecca struggled to utter the words with furrowed brows.

Although she was only acting, the medicine she took earlier was already giving her so much pain.

She already knew that the alcohol would trigger the effect of the medicine. She even took three pills at the same time. She felt so bad that she seemed not to be acting anymore. Her face twisted in anguish.

The media pointed their cameras at Rebecca to closely capture her expressions.

“Uncomfortable?” the assistant reiterated. “Why would you fall ill after drinking the wine? Does it have something to do with the wine?” she asked loudly on purpose.

When he heard the assistant’s assumption, the CEO opened his mouth to speak. “She was looking good before she drank the wine. What’s going on?” he asked with concern, looking down at Rebecca in his arms.

“It must have something to do with the wine,” the assistant exclaimed with certainty.

She then glanced around to look for the three waitresses who served the wine earlier.

All the reporters moved their cameras to look for the suspects as well.

Aria Liu was dumbfounded as she stood still. ‘What’s going on? I didn’t do anything wrong, ‘ she mused.
