“I’m planning to purchase some small companies and I will give half of them to you,” Lawrence said, his voice became less gruff. Actually, when Mike wasn’t talking nonsense, he also enjoyed talking to him.

“Thank you for your generosity, Lawrence,” Mike giggled. “I will give you the information you want as soon as possible.”

“One more thing, don’t forget to find that person,” Lawrence reminded him. When they were on board, he had already asked Mike to investigate that person. He had to admit that the Yu family had some influence in this city and he had no doubt about the results that Mike could get.

“You don’t need to worry about that. Once I find one person, I can definitely find the rest of his partners. Our family is good at tracing people. I assure you, they can’t escape from me,” Mike assured his friend.

The instant Mike finished his words, Lawrence ended the call.

After he ate lunch, Lawrence said to Lily, “Please get my room ready, Lily. I will stay here tonight.”

“Okay, I will,” Lily replied cheerfully. Lawrence walked out of the villa.

He drove towards Derek’s house.

He got out of his car and rang the bell. He waited for a while but no one had opened the door. His patience was running out as he wondered, ‘What’s going on?’

He was about to go back to his car when he heard someone spoke up. “Who is that? Why do you have to interrupt my afternoon nap?” Alice complained in her lazy voice while still yawning. She was rubbing her eyes while heading for the gate.

As he saw Alice walking out of the house, Lawrence kept quiet and waited for her to open the gate.

Before Alice opened the gate, she found Lawrence standing outside. She couldn’t believe what she was seeing. She rubbed her eyes again and even widened them. “Lawrence? You are Lawrence, right?”
she asked, dumbfounded.

“Open the gate,” Lawrence commanded. ‘Did she become shortsighted because of designing clothes? How could she not recognize me?’ he wondered.

“Okay, I got it,” Alice nodded as she recovered from shock. When she opened the gate, she saw Lawrence standing right in front of her.

Before Lawrence could say another word, Alice pounced at him and gave him a big hug.

“Welcome back, handsome guy! I’m so glad to see you again. It seems like you will be the hottest young man in this city,” Alice gushed.

“Thanks to my parents for giving me good genes,” Lawrence replied half-jokingly. “Let go of me now. You have gotten fat, haven’t you?” he added impatiently.

“Screw you! I’m slender, okay? I am even below 110 pounds,” Alice retorted. “I’ll hold a fashion show in a couple of days.

I will invite you to be my guest,” she added. ‘Did he come here to make fun of me? Tim didn’t even say that to me. Now he’s saying that I’m fat? Seriously?’ she thought with a bit of anger.

“I won’t come if the invitation card is ugly. Also, you have to send Mike one,” Lawrence responded brusquely before walking into the house.

Alice quickly caught up with Lawrence. She held his arm and they walked towards the house. “Did Mike come back as well?” she inquired. “Oh by the way, who is cuter now, Mike or you?” she asked with a grin.

“Innocent girl,” Lawrence answered coolly.

When they reached the living room, Lawrence noticed that Derek and Amy were not there so he asked, “Where are your parents?”

“They’re upstairs,” Alice replied as she strode to the staircase.

“Dad, Mom, we have a distinguished guest. You two, come down quickly now!” she cried out towards the stairs.

Derek got out of his study when he heard his daughter’s voice. He ran into Amy who walked out of the bedroom.

“What’s going on? Who would come to our house?” Amy asked Derek curiously while going down the stairs with her husband. Derek also had no idea who could their visitor be.

“I don’t know. I haven’t been going to the company these days. Besides, I am not expecting any visitors today,” he replied to Amy with a baffled look.

When the couple were almost at the living room, a young man who stood beside Alice caught their attention. They stared at him with mouths agape.

“Lawrence?” Derek called out. The amazement on his face turned into a delight.

“Lawrence, you have grown into an adult. Let me have a look,” Amy exclaimed while scanning Lawrence up and down. “Oh my god, I can’t believe that you turned into such a handsome young man,” she added as she held Lawrence’s hand.

“Hello, Auntie!” Lawrence greeted her. He used to call her Miss Amy but now that she had married his Uncle Derek, he thought it was necessary to call her Aunt.

“Oh, my dear child. I’m so glad to see you,” Amy cooed in a motherly tone. She was so excited that she almost burst into tears of joy. Even though she had Alice, she always wanted to have a son. Now that Lawrence was back, she intended to treat him as her own son.

Meanwhile, Derek also moved closer to Lawrence. “Did your Dad know that you came back?” he asked with one hand resting on the young man’s shoulder.

“Of course, he did. He even left me lots of work to do,” Lawrence replied.

“The JC Group is yours. Who do you think is more qualified to take charge of it other than you?” Derek said with a loud laugh. “Those top managers in the JC Group still don’t know that I’m back. Please keep my return to yourselves for now,” Lawrence requested.

He had his own plan.
“Lawrence must want to relax for several days, Dad,” Alice cut in.

“How would I not know?” Derek responded, still laughing. “It’s good to have some rest first. You need to recover from the jet lag and adjust yourself to fit in before going to the JC Group. You’re the right heir of the company. No one can steal that place from you.”

“I think that you know me better than my Dad, Uncle,” Lawrence said.

“I have known you since you were a boy, how could I not know you well?” Derek proudly said. The four of them seated in the living room and engaged in a cheerful conversation. Alice was standing next to Lawrence. Now that Lawrence had come back, she resolved to butter him up. After all, he would take over the JC Group soon.

‘If I meet some problems in the future, I can ask him for help instead of Dad. I know that he will be by my side no matter what happens, ‘ she thought.
