“Sounds great! Let them stay if they’re having fun! Selina…” Cherry hesitated for a second before continuing, “I need a favor from you. It might be a bit difficult, but I hope you can help me.” Cherry looked at Selina rather seriously, her forehead creasing.
“What is it?” Selina furrowed her brows, confused. She wondered what Cherry was going to say.
“Jackson and I intend to send Aria abroad for further studies. Since Lawrence is busy with his work, he can’t go with her. We worry that Aria wouldn’t get used to life there. I hope you can go with her and teach her the ways of living there. We trust you and your abilities. We’d be much assured to have you with her,” Cherry said.
“So you are fine with Lawrence and Aria’s relationship?” Selina asked, shocked. The disbelief could be easily read in her eyes. How did Jackson and her relent to this?
“Yes, but we have a condition. That is, Aria must be qualified to be with Lawrence. That’s why I intend to send her abroad for further studies. She would become an outstanding woman who would know how to live in our circles,” Cherry told her.
Selina too thought about it seriously. Aria was a good girl, but she was from a very different background, while her nephew was a rare talent. Their marriage could cause quite an uproar in the elite circles. Cherry’s decision was quite perfect. On one hand, Lawrence could still be with Aria, and on the other, her new qualifications would convince the noble elite that she was well-matched to Lawrence. They would not gossip behind her back then. Cherry was indeed shrewd to come up with this plan.
“Cherry, I couldn’t agree more. If Aria wants to marry into Chu family and have the elite class accept her, she would need to improve herself,” Selina said.
“Indeed. So, Selina, I want you to do this favor for me. Please look after her,” Cherry said, her eyes pleading.
“Of course, Cherry. I promise you I’ll go with her. I would be glad to do it because my nephew’s future is on the line. Be assured that when you hand Aria over to me, I will give you back a completely different version of her one year later,” Selina said, beaming. Their years of friendship meant that she and Cherry understood each other quite well. Selina knew exactly what Cherry hoped to see in Aria.
“Thank you so much, Selina!” Cherry said to her sincerely. She had not been sure if Selina would agree to her request. After all, it was not an easy thing to do. Now, listening to her agree to it without hesitation, Cherry’s heart bubbled with joy.
“Cherry, Wilson and I were already planning to live abroad for some time. Now you’ve given us an incentive to do so. We will alter our plans to be with Aria,” Selina said, smiling. They were about to travel together, so now their plans would have to be tweaked a little to make room for Aria. It made no difference and would have little impact on their visit. They could be with Aria and look after her, while simultaneously enjoying their time abroad. It would be quite wonderful.
“Do you think my brother would agree to it?” Cherry asked.
“When he gets to know we are only helping Lawrence, he would be glad to do it,” Selina replied. “But Cherry, when Mom and Dad come back and we are not home, you and Jackson must take care of them, all right?” Selina was worried about Jacob and Elsa. They were elderly and liked being around their children.
“Rest assured, I will take care of them. I will arrange for them to stay at our house. Lawrence, Violet and Greg will be there too. They won’t feel lonely,” Cherry promised wholeheartedly.
“Cherry, I am so happy to be a part of this family. We always look out for each other. I’m so grateful for all of us,” Selina said, looking pleased.
“Me too. We are all grateful for each other,” Cherry echoed.

After she left Yuwen house, Cherry didn’t return home. She went to the cemetery in the suburbs.
Standing in front of Emily’s tomb, Cherry cried. Tears ran down her cheeks one after the other. Time had trickled by so quickly. The photo on the tombstone was already yellow. Cherry squatted down to wipe the dust on it.
Looking at the smiling face, Cherry felt miserable. She couldn’t help the tears from gushing out when she recalled the good memories she shared with Emily.
Sitting on her knees in front of the tomb, she didn’t keep track of the time. A cruel and cold wind hit Cherry, making her shudder and realize how late it was. Quickly, she wiped out her tears and went home.
In the evening, when Cherry walked into her bedroom, she saw Jackson sitting on the bedside, going through some files. Curiously, Cherry walked up to him and tried to take a peek.
She sat down beside him and looked at the files Jackson was reading.
“These are all the details we need for Aria’s trip abroad. I have handled it all. The school will also be arranged tomorrow,” Jackson said, handing over the files to Cherry.
Cherry took the files from him and read through them before putting them aside. She snuggled into Jackson’s arms.
“Thank you, darling,” Cherry said to him fervently. She was grateful for Jackson’s support. He had always been by her side for every decision she made.
“Silly girl, it’s what I must do for our son. It’s our duty to help him out.” Jackson put his hand on Cherry’s shoulder and caressed her hair. He would stand with her through thick and thin. Loving her was what he was meant to do and their family was of utmost priority to him.
“I want to thank you. You’ve always loved and supported my every decision. I’m so lucky to have you,” Cherry said, looking up at him. Her lips curved into a content smile.
“You are my woman, my darling wife. I will do anything to make you happy,” Jackson said with emotion in his voice. All these years, his love for her hadn’t faded a bit. It had only grown stronger. The love between them was impenetrable and could withstand anything.
“How could I ever repay you?” Cherry asked him seriously, biting back a smile.
“Just stay by my side and it’s enough for me. When you’re with me, I feel like my life is bright and full of sunshine,”
Jackson said as he planted a kiss on her forehead. He shared her sentiment. He was lucky to have her too.
His words warmed Cherry’s heart. Slipping an arm around him, she buried her head to his chest, feeling his quick heartbeat. Just like Jackson said, when he was with her, her life was all sunshine and rainbows.
