“Why have you been avoiding me for a long time now”, Cheyenne asked

“I’m not avoiding you”, White simply replied

“Then why don’t you speak to me again, you don’t even spare me a glance anymore”, Cheyenne said

“I really don’t want to talk about this so I’ll appreciate it if you change the topic or better still, let me be going”, White said

“Did I offend you in anyway,,,, why the sudden change of attitude”, Cheyenne asked

“Nothing changed,,,,it’s not compulsory I speak to you tho”, White shrugged.

“Wow,,,,why are you treating like this, is it because I love you. Why can’t you just love me back”, Cheyenne blurted out and White’s eyes bulged out of its socket.

Never for once has he imagined that Cheyenne would like him but she’s not his speck. After all, she’s even his ex girlfriend bestfriend.

“I’m sorry but I don’t feel the same way, I love someone else”, White said

“Who is she,,,,is she better than me. I have changed, I even broke my friendship with Amanda just so that you will notice me, why are you doing this to me”, Cheyenne cried

“I’m sorry for making you pass through all of that but I’m not the one for you. There’s someone out there that is going to love you better than I would have done. Good bye”, White said and walked away.

“It’s her right”, Cheyenne shouted and White stopped on his tracks.

“Steph,,,, she’s the one right”, Cheyenne asked and White kept mute

“Tell me,,,, she’s the reason you can’t love me huh”, Cheyenne and tucked her hair behind her ear.

“Yes”, White said and left.

“Why is this happening to me”, Cheyenne slumped on the floor and cried hardly.

White kinda felt bad for what he said to Cheyenne but he had to tell her the truth so as not to give her false hope.

“Why is your face like this”, Jayden asked

“Cheyenne just confessed to me”, White replied.

“For real”, Jayden widened his eyes in disbelief.

“Yeah and I told her I can’t return the feelings and she was hurt”, White said

“Then stop allowing that to eat you up”, Jayden scoffed.

“Since when did you start reading”, Jayden mocked and White snubbed him and left.

“Why do I have arrogant friends”, Jayden muttered and ran to catch up with Justin.

“Mummy where are you going to”, Priya asked with tears in her eyes.

“I’m going to make things right my dear Priya. Don’t worry, momma will come back. Norman, take care of Priya for me. There are so many mistakes that I have made and I want to correct them”, Candis said and wiped the lone tear that fell from her eye.

“Find my brother and bring him back”, Norman said and Candis smiled

“I will”, she said and hugged both Priya and Norman.

Brian stood at the entrance of the room and watched them silently. He was hurt by what Candis did but he gave her another chance to set things on the right track.

“Ahem”, Brian cleared his throat and they all faced him.

Brian walked towards them and Candis lowered her head and bit her lips. Brian raised her chin up and made her face him, he smiled and pulled her into a tight hug.

“Make everything right,,,,, don’t make anymore mistakes. If you need help, just contact me right away and I’ll be there for you. Find Justin and make peace with him and his father”, Brian said and Candis fought the tears that threatened to fall from her eyes.

“I will do everything you just said. Thanks for staying with me even when I messed up. I will make everything right and come back. Watch over the kids for me”, Candis said and Brian nodded.

“I will. And come back early, you don’t want them to miss you too much”, Brian laughed and hugged her again.

“Bye kids”, Candis smiled.

“Bye mum”, they chorused.

“Your cab is here, you don’t wanna miss your flight”, Brian said and Candis ran to the door while Brian carried her luggage.

She entered the cab and waved them bye through the window till she could no longer see them.

“New York,,,,here I come”, Candis smiled sadly and sat properly on the seat.

“Where are you taking me to”, Chrysler pouted.

“Just wait”, Justin smiled.

Justin covered her eyes with his palms while he led her through a path and stopped when they got to a garden.

He released his palms from her eyes and Chrysler’s mouth gaped.

“Wow”, she mouthed. There were so many beautiful flowers and colourful butterflies were perching on them.

The place was silent because no one was there.

“I’m glad you like it. This is where I come to anytime I need some silent time, I thought maybe it would be okay if I share this place with you”, Justin smiled.

“Thanks for showing me such an important place”, Chrysler said without looking at Justin.

She ran around the garden and plucked flowers and inhaled their scent and smiled.

“She looks so beautiful”, Justin smiled while watching her run around.

“Wait for me”, he said and joined her to be running around.

They played for sometime until they heard a loud sound.

“What was that”, Justin asked.

“That was my stomach,,,,,I must be very hungry. Is there any place where I can buy ice cream”, Chrysler asked and Justin nodded.

“Give me your hand”, he asked and she placed her hand on his and he helped her up and led her out of the garden to a busy street.

“Over there”, Justin said and held her hand tightly so as not to loose sight of her.

They got to the shop and bought the flavor of ice cream Chrysler wanted.

“Wait here,,,,I’m coming”, Justin said to Chrysler and rushed off.

He was running so as to get back in time, he wasn’t watching where he was going so he bumped into a woman and her box fell.

He stopped at once and bent down to help the woman pick her box and his hair was swayed by the wind revealing a black star tattooed at the left side of his neck.

The woman saw this and gasped, this was the same star she drew on her little Justin’s neck.

“This is familiar”, she said and leaned in to look at it closer but Justin has already packed the woman’s things and stood straight.

“Here ma’am”, Justin smiled and rushed off before the woman could say anything.

Candis stood fixed to the ground, he looked so much like her little child.

He had his father’s blue eyes and wine hair.

“Could he be my son”, Candis thought but shrugged it off and held the hand of her box. She looked towards the direction where Justin followed for a while and left the place.

Justin got to a spot and bought some chicken salad and hurried back to the ice cream shop where he left Chrysler.

He handed over the chicken salad to her and she smiled and pecked him on his cheeks.

“You always know what I want”, she smiled and feasted on the chicken salad till she was full.

She rubbed her stomach in satisfaction while Justin just watched her.

“Why are you looking at me like that,,,,,is there something on my face”, she asked

“No,,,it’s just that you’re so beautiful”, Justin smiled and tucked her hair behind her ear and leaned in to place a kiss on her forehead.

“Let’s go home,,,it’s already getting late”, he said and they walked back to where Justin’s car was parked.

He opened the door for her and made sure she was comfortable before he went to the driver’s seat and drove away.

He stopped at her house and she came down immediately and ran to her house. Justin too came down and pulled her back

“Why did you drag me back”, Chrysler asked

“Nope,,,,I’m with my bag and my phone so I don’t think there’s anything I’m forgetting”, she said and Justin shook his head.

“Where’s my Goodnight kiss”, Justin asked and she quickly pecked his lips and made to go inside but he dragged her back.

“That’s not how you do it,,,,this is how you do it”, he said and kissed her for a while before he pulled away and released her.

“Goodnight”, he said and she smiled.

“Goodnight”, she replied and went inside while Justin drove away.
