Writer’s pov.

Adriana blinked her eyes open. It took her few seconds to analyze her surrounding. Recalling the past event of last night, she sighed out in exhaustion.

She clearly remembered having a blind sex with her supposed husband – A man she barely knew.
Well, she signed up for sex the moment she got married to him. After all, she did all these to give him a child and in return, she’d take half his properties.

This was what gave her hope. That’d she’d finally elevate her family from this sickening poverty that shredded their lives.

Tiredly, she got up from the bed wincing in slight pains. She walked towards the window and parted the curtains, Making the light Ray’s penetrate brighter into the room.

She walked out of the room, towards the big sitting but saw no trace of Davis.
Maybe he left already for work .

the thought of Davis already at his work place lifted the heavy weight in her heart. She’s not ready to face him. Not after what happened between them last night.

She stood, feeling a bit hungry. It’s time to prepare something to eat.

She walked into the kitchen and found some groceries, newly stocked in a proper manner. A sweet smile stretched at the corner of her lips.

Still contemplating on what to prepare for herself that morning, she brought out the cooking pot and lit the gas cooker.

Davis. Pov.

I arranged my files accordingly and attended to the scheduled visitors for the day. It was a long boring day and I couldn’t help but feel a bit squishy throughout. I got married just yesterday and I must confess, it’s not as exciting as people makes it sound, neglecting the fact that the basis of the marriage is fake.

My phone suddenly rang out and I picked up. It was Rachel, my secretary.

” What?”

My tone appeared to be a bit harsh but I cared less. She’s used to it anyway.

” Sir, there’s someone here to see you. ”

” Who? ”

Everyone is always here to see me. I scoff.

” Okay, let him in. ”
I finally said before hanging up.

The door pushed open.

I didn’t spare him a look. The secretary already told me who it is and it only makes me wonder why he never mentioned to me he was coming here today. What if didn’t want to see him? What if j wasn’t in the office either?.

“Paul, you never told me you were coming”

I spoke out, still typing relentlessly into my computer.

He didn’t say a word, the next thing was a stock of newspaper he threw on my desk.

” How did you possibly think you could hide this. From all of us”

I finally raised up my head.
The look on his face wasn’t a good one.

I traced my eyes to the newspaper and pick it up.

” Durec Ceo secretly marry in court. ”

I scoffed.

” I never intended it to be secret the first place”

I threw the paper aside and relaxed a bit on my seat.

” I was gonna tell you, believe me. ”
I surrendered, my hands in the air.

” When? Is it when you’d be celebrating a year anniversary? C’mon man why didn’t you tell me all these while?.. why make it secret? ”

I roll my eyes and got up.

” I didn’t make it secret. If it was secret , it wouldn’t have been done in court. Would it?”

He sighed out.

” Who is she?”

” I beg your pardon?”

” Who is the bride?… I mean, The new Mrs Gregg. ”

” Adriana? She’s my wife. As you just said. ”

” How long have you known her,.. how come I don’t …. I have seen her yet.?”

Wouldn’t he be surprised if I told him she’s the little theif I told him about. The lady who embarrassed a reputable Ceo in the eyes of the public.

” You’ll get to Meet her,… Very, very soon.,”

Writer’s pov.

The doorbell rang.
Ethan got up to get it. His eyes dilapidated in surprise.

” What are you doing you? Haven’t I given you enough reason to stop coming here?”

” Quit the gibberish Ethan. You and I know you’re happy to see me”

“Am I?”
He arched his brow at her.

She tried to get in but Ethan trapped the door with his right foot.

” You need to stay away Betty. I don’t know why you came back, I don’t know why you keeping pushing yourself at things, but you really need to steer clear. Especially from my zone. I was done with you a very long time ago. ”

He spat out in sheer disgust.

” I’ve always hated you and you know that. ” Betty retorted.

” And here you are. So much for hating me. ”

” Quit raising your Ego d”ckhead. I think you should listen to the news, you might really wanna see what’s up. ”

She eyes him and walked away.

Ethan scoffs, then bangs the door shut.

” Nuisance ”

He walked back to his former station and resumed what he was doing.

But then again, Betty’s voice replaying in his head.

“I think you should listen to the news, you might really wanna see what’s up. ”

He got up and reached for his remote.

He switched on his TV and relaxed back on his seat.

” It seems that Davis Gregg, the CEO of durec companies has finally married his heartthrob as He conducted a secret court marriage just yesterday …

” What…?”

Ethan’s brow furrowed even more as he stares at the picture of his brother with the Bride.

He wasn’t just staring at the picture.

He was staring at Adrianna Flaire.

Betty drove in a very very toiled mood. She didn’t expect this. Yeah, she was never expecting it. And it sucks!

She pulled beside the highway and shut her eyes really tight.

She can’t seem to get out of her past memories.

And how Davis has suddenly moved.

3 years ago.

” Marry me. ”
He kissed her lips that cozy morning as they lay in each other’s arms.

“Hm”

Betty acted as though she didn’t here what he said.

” Let’s get married Betty. You know how much I want to be with you. ”

He intertwine his fingers with hers and Betty pulled away from him.

” It’s not that easy.”

She exhale , getting up from the bed.

” We love each other. Let’s get married. ”
He got up and moved closer, wrapping her from her back..

” You know I’m ready. Don’t you?”
He placed tender kisses all over her
From behind.

” I know.” She walked away, covering herself with the bedsheet.

“You keep acting like you still don’t know me enough. We’ve been together for months. Don’t you understand?”

She shook her head , not saying anything.
Her eyes fell on the wall clock and she gasped slightly.

“I need to go now. ”

She wore her dress.

” I’ll see you later. ”
She kissed him lightly on his lips before leaving.

Davis sighed out and fell back on the bed.
There’s something wrong with Betty, be knew it, cause he’s beginning to suspect her.
She’s always tensed and in a hurry to leave.

She’s got herself involved in too many strange calls. And it’s got him really, really curious.

Was she seeing someone?..

And to think he just made his intentions known to her and she said nothing.

Whatever it is, he’ll find out, someday.

Hours later*

Davis phone rang out.

” What?”

” There’s someone here to see you.”

” Who is he?”

” It’s a ‘she’ sir. She insists you know about her coming”

Davis scoffed.

Is it Adrianna?…
He thought within as he placed the call back on his ear.

” Let her in. ”

” I’m in already. ”

Davis twitched in his chair.
That voice.

He looked up and…

” You…”

She smiled. “Long time no see, dear fiance’ ”

Davis gulped down..

He grew short of words. And for a moment, he sat still,not knowing what to say to her.

” How dare you show your face to me?.. get out now. ”
His voice came out calm, but authoritatively.

” Don’t tell me you’re still mad at me.. I can see you’re still the big headed Davis I left 2 years ago. ”

She smiled.

” I think you should learn to be nice to guests, old friends especially. Now that you have …..

She stopped,.. then covered it up with a smile.

” I just stopped by to congratulate you on your first day as a married man. It’s nice knowing you get along easily with women after what happened to you. ”

Davis balled his hands into a fist.
He swallowed hard and used every fibre in him to not get angry and go up in flames.

He needed to be in control. And in doing that, he must pay no attention to whatever she was saying.

” I’ll be on my way. ” She turned back to the entrance door, but soon stopped when Davis said something.

” Traitors like you don’t deserve happy endings. ”

She smirked.
