“Just as I was making excuses and comforting myself for his abandoning me, he sacrificed me to flatter Krus once again.”

“I finally get it in his eyes, I’m nothing more than a promiscuous woman.”

Estelle didn’t know what to say, so she just said lightly, “If you’ve figured it out, it’s never too late to turn back!”

Winnie’s complexion turned pallid, her eyes brimming with sorrow, as she nodded slowly. “I’ve ended the relationship with him, but he believes it’s merely a display of stubbornness. He thinks things will return to how they were before, that after our arguments, I will eventually come back to him on my own. However, deep down, I know it’s over. I am done with him and done with love! I have no intention of returning to B City. In fact, I’ve already purchased a ticket to M Country, scheduled to depart in three hours.”

Estelle was happy for her, saying, “With your talent, you’ll do well even without relying on a man!”

“Yeah!” Winnie raised her head, holding back her tears, swallowing her grievances. “Looking back, I was so stupid to have wasted seven years on someone who isn’t worth it, only ending up utterly disappointed!”

Taking a deep breath, she looked at Estelle and said with a mocking tone, “Estelle, do you know how Baldrick lost this cooperation?”

Estelle sensed that her words had a hidden meaning, so she remained silent and looked at her.

Winnie continued, “Before coming here, Baldrick bribed someone in Jonathan’s company who was in charge of this project. That person leaked information to Baldrick that Jonathan wanted to monopolize the collaboration with Schilder and had a countermeasure in place. Baldrick panicked and did everything he could to learn about Schilder, only taking me along when he heard that Schilder and his butler were fond of girls from our country. However, this morning, Baldrick found out that the intel he gathered earlier wasn’t entirely accurate. Schilder had a great relationship with his wife, and there were no attractive young girls from our country around him.”

Winnie paused for a moment before resuming, “Now, here’s what I think happened: Jonathan orchestrated everything. Right from the beginning, he had a plan to get Baldrick out of the game. Even the person in his company who leaked information to Baldrick was deliberate, deliberately making him feel anxious and desperate. Meanwhile, Jonathan simply observed as Baldrick embarra*sed himself in front of Schilder, It was especially humiliating when he asked me to accompany Schilder, causing Schilder to feel disgusted and repulsed.”

Jonathan’s gentleness towards you reminded Schilder of his younger days with Mrs. Macy, and I think that’s when he started weighing his options.”

“And the deciding factor was those earrings, which I think you helped Jonathan obtain, didn’t you?”

“I’ve seen Mrs. Macy’s photo album, and you two looked somewhat alike when you were young. So, you’re actually Jonathan’s best weapon!”

Estelle stared at her.

Winnie said sincerely, “Estelle, I don’t mean to drive a wedge between you and Jonathan. I can see that he treats you very well, but he’s cunning and not to be underestimated. You need to be careful.”

“At least,” she took a deep breath and continued slowly, “don’t make the same mistakes I made!”

Estelle nodded and said, “Thank you for your reminder. I know what to do.”

“That’s good. You’re smarter than me, and you’ll definitely do better than me!” Winnie took a step back, her gaze warm and sincere. “Estelle, it was nice to meet you. I hope we’ll have the chance to see each other again in the future!”

Estelle nodded and said, “Take care!”

“You too!”

On her way back after parting with Winnie, Estelle couldn’t help but wonder if Jonathan brought her here to let her visit her grandfather, or if it was as Winnie said – to use her to win over the Schilders.

However, in the matter of searching for the earrings, he couldn’t possibly have known about her relationship with the Jarvis family. Otherwise, he would have hidden it too well.
