Although this person seemed not to be drunk, I always felt that he was somewhat dizzy.

Seeing me speak like this, he didn’t say much either. He looked at me, nodded, and hummed in

agreement.

I got off the car and headed straight to the pastry shop. I had never seen him eat any desserts before,

and I didn’t know what he liked, so I simply chose a few pastries according to my own taste. When I

came out, I saw a 24-hour convenience store nearby. Thinking that yogurt could help with hangovers, I

went in and bought a few cups of yogurt and some bottled water.

It only took seven or eight minutes back and forth. When I returned and was ready to get in the car, I

saw that the passenger seat was already empty. I looked around and there was no sign of a man in the

back seat. The pedestrians around were in a hurry, either couples in love or groups of friends. There

was no sound of Walter.

I initially thought he probably wanted to eat something and had gotten off the car to buy it, so I got on

the car and prepared to wait for him. However, after waiting for quite a while on the car, I didn’t see him

return.

I started to get a bit anxious. After all, he had been drinking. If he was really drunk, who knows what

could happen in the middle of the night with him being a drunkard.

Thinking of this, I couldn’t stay calm and wait in the car anymore. I got out of the car and started looking

around. This huge road was open in all directions, and I didn’t know where to start. I had no choice but

to rely on my intuition and search aimlessly.

I had been running back and forth for quite a while, but I couldn’t find anyone. I couldn’t help but worry

more. It’s said that concern leads to chaos. By the time I realized I should ask for help, I suddenly

realized that in my hurry when I got off the car earlier, I had completely forgotten to bring my phone,

Helplessly, I had to go back to the car again to get my phone to call for help.

“Woof…” As I passed a dark alley, I was suddenly startled by a sound. It wasn’t that I was cowardly, but

in the middle of the night, being lost, it was inevitable that my nerves were a bit on edge.

Upon hearing the sound, I instinctively stepped back a few paces to ensure my safety. Out of curiosity, I

then looked towards the dark alley. The light was too dim, and I could barely make out a large dog

growling towards an even darker area, as if it had seen something frightening.

Looking at this scene, I was suddenly reminded of some terrifying legends. The elders often said that

the magnetic fields of animals and humans are different, and they can see many things that people

can’t

see.

Suddenly, I shivered, my heart pounding with fear. I don’t believe in ghosts and spirits, but being alone

in the pitch dark, with the dog. making such strange growling noises, it was hard not to let my

imagination run wild.

Suppressing my fear, I felt an urge to run away, yet I was afraid of disturbing something that shouldn’t

be disturbed. I forced myself to endure the fear, slowly turning my head to leave.

“Zzz.” I had just taken a step when a strange noise sounded, scaring me into freezing on the spot,

unable to move.

The large dog that had been growling in the dark seemed to have taken a few steps back. Only with the

faint light, I could barely make out that the dog was a large, pure black one.

It was even more terrifying at a glance. I wanted to leave, but my legs felt a bit weak, especially when

something moved in the dark area where the black dog was staring. It seemed like there was

something

white.

No, what was prepared to be said was a mass of white and a… person!

I had to thank the extra seconds I stood there, allowing my eyes to adjust to the darkness, to make out

a person and a dog in the shadows.

That’s right, it was one person and one dog.

Driven by curiosity, I found myself staring a few more times at the person in the dark. Not for anything

else, I was just very curious. If there really were ghosts in this world, I would really like to see what they

look like.

But when I clearly saw the familiar features in the dark, I couldn’t help but pause for a moment, couldn’t

help but exclaim, “Walter.”

The person in the dark seemed to hear his own name, he looked up at me, his voice somewhat

muflled, “You’re here.”

Looking at the person in the dark, I was no longer afraid. I took a few steps closer and saw Walter

leaning against the wall. His tall body was sitting cross-legged on the ground, holding a large white dog

in his arms. To be precise, it wasn’t white, the dog’s color was somewhat yellowish. Upon closer

inspection, it was a Golden Retriever.

What was he doing here holding a big Golden Retriever?

Looking at the man sitting motionlessly on the ground, I spoke, “Walter, what are you doing here? And

what’s the deal with this

Golden Retriever?”

He looked at me, his eyes bright in the darkness, his voice carrying an unusual naivety, “It hits its wife, I

protect it.”
