I paused, looking at her and asked, “Where did you get this news?” River City was only so big, and the Conner Group had been surviving in River City for decades. When I came back from the restroom, I happened to run into some acquaintances. Actually, it wasn’t so much running into them as it was seeing them. The restroom of the restaurant was at the end of two rows of private rooms, so when I came out, I saw two acquaintances in one of the private rooms.
