Josephine was left speechless.

“This man…” she thought.

She was so pissed off.

Josephine had been living with Yennefer since her parents and grandparents got into an accident. She later moved into Jonathan’s home. Since then, she became really good at hiding her emotions.

She was gentle and quiet. Josephine didn’t talk much and looked sensible, nor would she cause any trouble.

But she was only 23 years old.

She was stubborn and strong. No matter how sensible Josephine was, she was still full of youth and would never admit defeat. Moreover, she had a temper that seemed to suit her age.

But she had never lost her temper with an outsider before.

Josephine rarely lost her temper, even with her ex–boyfriend Charles

But the man in front of her managed to make her anger erupt like a volcano.

Josephine sat up straight abruptly.

Josephine glared at Ragnar and said, “Mr. Levine, were you not the one who took an interest in me first and insisted that I sign an agreement and get our marriage license? What do you mean by seducing you?”

Josephine then sneered and continued, “It’s true that you’re rich and good–looking. You’re someone many women would do anything to sleep with. But I’m not one of those women! I’m not interested in you, Mr. Levine. You said that I was seducing you, huh? I’m telling you, even if you climb in my bed naked to seduce me, I’ll still reject you!”

“What did you say?” Ragnar asked.

But Josephine kept silent.

He suddenly smiled, the corners of his thin lips curling up. The smile on his handsome face was beautiful, but it was also intimidating

Ragnar leaned in closer.

“Y–You…” Josephine stammered.

Her temperament suddenly weakened.

She looked at the man in fear and regretted what she had just done. “Was I not afraid of death earlier? Why did I talk back to him?” she thought.

But Ragnar was not going to do anything

All he did was lean in really close to Josephine

The atmosphere around them turned cold as Ragnar stared down at Josephine. Then, he said softly, “Are you sure you weren’t seducing me? Who was the one who repeatedly threw herself at me the other night? if I remember correctly, you were very enthusiastic about it!”

Josephine stayed silent.

Josephine thought of what she had done that night after she was set up by Samantha and got into the man’s car.

Chapter 13

“That was…”

She didn’t know what to say.

After a pause, she continued, “I couldn’t help it!”

Josephine’s face flushed red when she remembered what she did that night and because of the anger Ragnar had caused her. She looked like a tiger cub which didn’t quite dare to bare its fangs and claws when she was embarrassed.

Ragnar was stunned for a moment at the sight of this.

He continued looking down at Josephine as his scent surrounded her. Their faces were almost touching as Ragnar stared into her eyes.

Then, his eyes fell on her pink lips.

Josephine felt uncomfortable.

She pushed the man away.

Then, she craned her neck and said stubbornly to Ragnar, “I’m not interested in you! Don’t worry. I will never sleep with you in this lifetime!”

Josephine thought about what had already happened when she was drugged. But who would have thought he wouldn’t do anything to her and instead bring her to the hotel for an ice bath?

His actions made her think that he might be impotent.

But she couldn’t say that. Otherwise, someone with as little importance as her might actually be killed if she angered him.

Hence, Josephine said to him, “I will adhere to the contract. I will treat Danny and Manny sincerely so they can grow up without losing their mother’s love in the next three years. I’ll leave immediately once three years are up.”

Ragnar frowned.

This was what he initially intended to do, and it was what he hoped for. But for some reason, he felt uncomfortable after hearing what Josephine said.

Ragnar thought, “Maybe I’m not used to it because I used to be the one who felt disdain toward others, but now she’s acting so desperate to cut ties with

me.”

With that, he said coldly, “You’d better do what you say! Abide by the contract, and don’t expect anything you shouldn’t expect. Otherwise…”

Ragnar narrowed his eyes. Things were getting dangerous.

Then, he continued, telling Josephine, “You’re going to bear the consequences!”

Josephine shivered.

She raised her hand to swear. “Mr. Levine, don’t worry. Even if I were to harbor any motives toward someone, I would never do the same to you!”

Ragnar’s face darkened further.

He wanted to reprimand Josephine and tell her that she shouldn’t compare him to just anyone else.

But he soon dropped the thought.

Ragnar turned around and left Josephine’s room.

Josephine finally heaved a sigh of relief a moment after Ragnar left. She lay back in her bed and fell asleep soon after because she was so tired.

Meanwhile, Ragnar went back to his room and took a shower.

He then went to the balcony and smoked a cigarette.

Chapter 13

Once he was done, Ragnar went in and lay on his bed, but he did not feel sleepy at all. Perhaps it was because he had a drink earlier or because it was past his bedtime, but his brain was still very active.

He tossed and turned, the anger that he could not show earlier still lingering in him. Then, indecent thoughts filled his head inadvertently.

Yennefer came back from her business trip the next day.

As soon as she entered the house, Samantha grabbed her hand and said, “Yenny, you’re finally back! I’m telling you, Josephine, that niece of yours, is simply too outrageous. She has a new boyfriend, and he looks like a gangster. The day before yesterday, she brought her boyfriend to the house to move some things. Jonathan and I wanted to stop them since you were on a business trip…”

Yennefer frowned.

She looked at Samantha and asked, “Samantha, did you say something you shouldn’t have to Josie again?”

Samantha’s eyes widened as soon as she heard this. “What could I possibly say? Josephine was the one who didn’t behave well. As an adult, of course, I should educate her. But look at her! She’s moved out with a shady man. I wouldn’t care if she were to end up pregnant and get dumped by him later on.”

Samantha’s words got more and more unpleasant.

Yennefer shook off her hand.

With a cold face, she dragged her luggage back to her room.

Seeing how Yennefer was acting, Samantha scolded from behind her angrily, “Oh, my God, this is so unfair! I was being kind, yet I’m not appreciated. The Levine family is about to go extinct because we have someone who can’t produce a child. What’s more, she has no conscience at all!”

Yennefer walked out of the room.

She ignored Samantha’s curses and made a beeline out the door before closing it with a loud bang.

Yennefer went downstairs and immediately called Josephine. “Josie, why did you suddenly move away?”

“Are you back, Aunt Yennefer?”

Josephine didn’t say anything about what happened that night.

She only told Yennefer, “Aunt Yennefer, I got a job as a nanny for the Levine family. I followed their request and moved in with them so it’ll be more convenient to care for the children.”
