Caged in Labor novel - Episode 8
—- His Beta approached cautiously, his own heart aching at the sight. “Alpha, let her go. The Luna… she’s gone.” Awave of raw power radiated from him, his eyes blazing with crimson fire. “Get out! She’s not dead! She has to be lying to me!” An Omega servant couldn’t bear to watch any longer, her eyes filled with pity. “Alpha, the Luna is truly… Please, let her rest in peace. ” An older she-wolf turned her head, her voice thick with pity. “A normal birth is a trial.
But to be chained in silver during labor… Moon Goddess, the agony she must have endured.” Damien’s eyes were bloodshot. Numbly, he lifted Elena’s body, cradling her as if she were the most precious treasure in the world, and walked stiffly out of the dungeons. The Beta approached him. “Alpha, the rain is starting. We should bring her inside. Grant her some dignity.” —- Damien just held his mate’s body tighter, his protective Alpha instincts on full display.
The Beta tried again, his voice soft. “The Luna suffered so much. Don’t let her get cold now.” That got through to him. Damien looked down at the lifeless face of his mate, his expression one of pure agony. Then, oblivious to the blood soaking his clothes, he gently lifted her body and carried her back to his car. Elena’s POV I was finally home. My real home, back in my father’s territory. No more begging for my life from a cold-hearted Alpha like Damien.

Before my consciousness faded completely, a primal instinct had kept me going-the instinct of a mother protecting her pup. After fighting so hard to escape that silver cage, I —- couldn’t give up now. Damien had severed our mate bond, but I had one last resort. Fighting through the haze of agony, I pleaded with a pack healer for his phone. Fighting through the searing pain of the silver poisoning, I clutched my stomach and dialed the number I knew by heart.
“Dad,” I choked out, “I should have listened to you. Please… help me.” He just asked for my location. He didn’t need details. The ancient blood-bond of our line screamed my terror to him across the miles. The moment I heard his voice, I broke down completely. Astorm of regret, relief, and grief washed over me. Less than fifteen minutes later, a helicopter was already hovering overhead.
