“It’s dark at night. They won’t recognize me unless their eyes are sharp.”

Caroline relaxed and took Sonia for a silent walk along the street. Kirk followed behind them, remaining quiet as well.

Sonia discreetly asked Caroline, “Caroline, who is that man?”

Caroline said bluntly, “I don’t know him.”

Sonia chuckled at her words.

Caroline asked, “Why are you laughing?”

“He must be your husband. You two must be having trouble.”

Sonia said mysteriously, “Besides, I can see that you both love each other very much.”

Caroline’s heart skipped a beat. She said, “You’re so confident about that. Are you a psychic or something? Or have you been in a relationship?”

“No, but I’ve seen people in love.”

Sonia mused, “Look at him. Even though you both are fighting, he still follows you every step of the way.

“It shows that you’re more important than his anger at you. I’ve seen many people lose their girlfriends because they lost their temper over the tiniest things.” Kirk’s attitude touched Sonia.

Caroline had met someone like that before. That had been the case with Eddy. He would abandon

her at any time during meetings, banquets, or even the roads. It wasn’t because they were

fighting, but because he didn’t like her.

Sonia nudged Caroline’s arm. “Caroline. If it isn’t a big issue, you should just forgive him. In

relationships, there must be a compromise, right?”

Caroline looked at Sonia silently.

Caroline nodded. “Do you remember what I asked you? About a man falling in love with another woman

“And marrying her?” Sonia interjected, looking back at Kirk in shock.

But she quickly shook her head and said, “I don’t think he’s someone like that. Did you give him a chance to explain?”

Caroline threw up her hands. “Yes, and I did it more than once! But he just wouldn’t explain himself.”

After what she heard, Sonia couldn’t take Kirk’s side anymore.

Still, she said, “Maybe he has his reasons.”

Caroline grimaced. She didn’t care if he had his reasons.

She was going to kick Kirk out of her apartment tonight! She didn’t want to see his face every night right after work!

Before this issue was resolved, she would give him the silent treatment until the end!

As she walked, she noticed fewer lights and people around them.

Realizing that she had reached a remote place, Caroline was about to turn around and go back when three people showed up in front of them.

All three wore masks and hats. They were even more covered up than Sonia.

Caroline turned around and noticed they weren’t the only ones there.

They were surrounded from all directions. There were at least 20 to 30 people, and they were all

holding weapons. It was clear that they weren’t good people.

Caroline protected Sonia behind her.

Her actions made Sonia, who had only had herself to rely on since childhood, feel a warmth in her

chest.

However, before the warmth dissipate, she felt a chill on her back. When she turned around, she

met Kirk’s aggressive gaze.
