Adrian immediately became speechless. The silence wrapped around his chest like a web. After a

while, he smiled. “You’re right. He wouldn’t.”

Caroline looked at him, confused by his words.

Adrian smiled, feeling resigned. “He punched me just now because I provoked him on purpose. So

he wasn’t in the wrong. I’m the wrongdoer here.”

Caroline’s expression shifted at his words. “Are you telling the truth?”

Her expression tugged at Adrian’s heart, but he still said with a smile, “Yeah.”

“Why did you do that?” Caroline was angry.

Adrian looked at her, hurt swirling in his gaze. All the things he wanted to say were stuck in his

throat.

After a moment, he smiled sadly and apologized, “I’m sorry. I just wanted to test him, but I never

thought it would cause such a big misunderstanding.”

“You shouldn’t be apologizing to me,” Caroline snapped at him. Then, she ran out of the room.

Looking at the empty door, Adrian smiled. It stretched his wound again.

However, he didn’t feel any pain this time, probably because the pain in his heart overshadowed

the physical pain in his cheek.

He had known for a long time that Caroline and her husband had a very good relationship. But he

hadn’t expected Caroline to care about him so much.

Even when they were fighting, they were on the same side.

Caroline ran to the door, feeling dizzy from anxiety. Then, she realized that they might have gone to a nearby clinic. She ran to the front desk again and asked if a clinic was nearby.

The receptionist’s English wasn’t very good, and she had a Macovian accent. Caroline used a lot of effort to figure out what she was saying.

Although she was a bundle of nerves, she tried her best to listen to the receptionist’s directions

patiently.

After getting the directions, she thanked the receptionist and hurriedly left the hotel. Following

the receptionist’s directions, Caroline headed to the nearby clinic.

Half an hour later, she finally arrived at the clinic. She happily opened the door, only to find the small clinic packed with people.
