Kirk’s gaze was fathomless and charming. Caroline unexpectedly found herself getting lost in his

beautiful eyes.

By the time she returned to her senses, Kirk had already leaned forward to kiss her lips.

She hurriedly raised her hand to grab him. “I don’t believe you. If you aren’t married, why would

the City Hall in Macldo record that you’re married in your information?”

“Maybe there’s an error in the system.” Kirk held her shoulder and looked at her earnestly.

“Darling, we’ve been together for so long. I’m sure you know what kind of person I am.”

His words made Caroline relax her grip. He was right. After being together for so long, apart from this incident, Kirk had been the perfect husband.

She looked up at Kirk. “C–can I really trust you?”

“Of course,” Kirk reassured, slowly placing Caroline’s hand on his chest.

The coldness in Caroline’s eyes slowly dissipated when she felt Kirk’s strong heartbeat with her

fingertips.

Just as she was about to tell him she trusted him, a woman holding a child suddenly appeared

behind Kirk like a ghost.

The woman mocked, “Haha! I can’t believe you fell for our lies! Not only are we married, but we

also have a child. You poor, miserable mistress!”

“No-”

Caroline suddenly opened her eyes. When she saw a pair of surprised eyes, she realized she had

had a nightmare.

She held her head and awkwardly apologized to the air stewardess, who had come over after

hearing noises.

The air stewardess asked softly, “Do you want a glass of water?”

“No, it’s fine.”

“Sure.”

Caroline and Adrian had spoken at the same time.

The stewardess looked at them questioningly

Adrian said, Please bring a glass of water.”

Caroline nodded at his words. After the stewardess left, she sat up straight and took a tissue from

Adrian “Where’s Gwen?”

“I saw her looking very sleepy, so I asked her to rest in first class. Did you have a nightmare?”

Caroline nodded.

The stewardess brought a glass of water, and Caroline drank it in one gulp.

“Do you want some more water?” Adrian asked gently.

Caroline shook her head, finally feeling more awake. “I’ll go and wake Gwen up.‘

Just as she was about to stand up, Adrian grabbed her wrist. The scene in her dream came

rushing back to her mind, and she ripped her hand away from Adrian.

Adrian felt a spark the moment he touched Caroline’s skin. But when she ripped her hand away,

he quickly felt despair envelop him.

“I’m really sorry. It wasn’t on purpose.” Caroline apologized.

She didn’t know what to say. She couldn’t explain to Adrian that she reacted so harshly because of her nightmare.

Suppressing his hurt feelings, Adrian looked up again with a bright smile.

“It’s okay. I know you didn’t mean it. Also, don’t wake Gwen up. She’s probably sleeping soundlessly right now.

“If you wake her up, she’ll definitely get revenge. Besides, I’m a grown man. I’m not that pretentious.”

Caroline felt much better after hearing his words. “Thank you, Adrian. You’re a really good person.”

Adrian lowered his head, smiling wryly. Did Caroline just friendzone him?

“It’s a pity no one really loves me, no matter how good I am.” His voice was bitter, and he sounded like a wounded cub.
