- Season 5 Episode 94 - The Princess of the People Ella
The crowd goes absolutely wild as we walk into the sunshine and a huge smile appears on my face. Honestly, it was a bit of a tug-of-war for a few months there, with the media continually debating whether I was a good or bad Queen after the murder on the front steps. But I kept myself in check and continued to do the best I could, and things have continually turned around towards people seeing that I only have their best interests in mind and that I really want to fight for the little guy.
Plus, I don’t think it hurts to be the mother of a super adorable little prince and that I just gave our nation its first princess.
The crowd calls out his name and I smile at them, pleased and bewildered by how they already know. I look at Sinclair, confused, but he just shrugs and smiles at me.
Together, my little family and I make our way to the edge of the terrace and I lift the baby up a little in my arms so the crowd can see her. They go wild the moment their princess’s face appears, shouting how beautiful she is and how happy they are to meet her.
I can’t help but laugh and get tears in my eyes seeing that my entire nation feels exactly the same way I do about my little girl. I’m so, so excited that she’s finally here.
“And you thought Ariel wouldn’t be as loud as Rafe,” Cora murmurs with a smile, coming up beside me. The crowd cheers as they see Jesse approach as well; the Little Duke is also a favorite.
“I know,” I laugh, turning to smile at my sister. “Poor Rafe didn’t understand any of this.”
“But look at him now,” Cora says, leaning forward and pointing at my son. I turn and see my partner smiling at Rafe, who is actually waving to people. I burst out laughing because he’s so Rafe. He loves waving and saying hello; he just has no idea that he’s waving to the thousands of people gathered in the streets.
Sinclair raises his hand and waves back, but I just smile and hold my baby close, looking into her face. She wrinkles and frowns for a moment before opening her eyes slightly and turning toward the noise of her people.
I laugh with joy, because even though I know she can’t see anything, she seeks out all the things as if she’s trying to look at them and see them as much as they are hers. I hold her up a little higher, murmuring in her ear all the things she could see if her eye were a little more developed, but she just gives a little baby sigh and closes her eyes again, pressing her face against mine.
I smile but look at my husband, because I know the baby needs to go in now. Her princess duties are done and she’s hungry and needs some sleep. Sinclair nods at me, leaning forward to kiss my forehead, and then we say one last hello to the people before we head inside.
“Come on, Roger,” Cora laughs, and I look over my shoulder to see her pulling him inside.
“No, this is fun,” she replies in a cheerful voice. “Give me Jesse, we’ll stay outside…”

“Ridiculous,” she sighs, but I can tell she thinks he’s funny. “Didn’t you get enough attention as a kid?”
“Not at all,” Roger sighs dramatically, “Dominic took everything from me when he was born, it was very traumatic…” This content belongs to Nô/velDra/ma.Org .
I smile and look up at Sinclair’s face in time to see him roll his eyes, but he doesn’t respond, and Henry just laughs behind us.
“You have a lot of attention span, Roger,” Henry sighs as we head back to our apartment. “Your mother couldn’t get enough of you; she thought you were so much fun.”
“Just like I can’t get enough of you,” I murmur to our sweet little Ariel, “Or you!” I say, reaching out to ruffle Rafe’s hair.
“What about me?” Sinclair asks as we reach our door, smiling at me as he opens it.
“Oh, now that you’ve given me two kids, I’m done with you,” I say, looking at him with wide, serious eyes, but not quite able to keep a straight face.
“Liar,” he laughs, pulling me closer to his side with his free hand.
“Okay, Ells,” Cora says, coming up to my side and kissing my cheek. “We’ll be right down the hall, right? In case you need me?”
“Thank you, Cora,” I say, moving away from Sinclair’s side as he bids his brother and father goodnight. While I don’t anticipate needing Cora tonight, it’s nice to know I have a doctor and a sister nearby.
She gives me an extra squeeze as I say goodbye to the rest of the Sinclairs and walk into the room with my partner and children. My children. Plural! I laugh in wonder at the joy of it.

“Happy?” Sinclair asks, smiling at me as he closes the door.

“Elated,” I sigh, smiling at him before looking at the kids. “But also exhausted. And busy. Do you think you can put Rafe down, or at least distract him, while I get ready to feed Ariel?”
My partner smiles at me, takes a step closer and takes my chin in his hand. “Did you hear that?” he asks.
“What?” I ask, confused.

“You just said the most beautiful thing in the world,” she laughs, shaking her head at me. “Asking me to take care of our son while you got ready to feed our daughter. Our family, Ella, it’s not like it wasn’t before. But it’s growing, which is what we’ve always wanted.”
“I know,” I coo, moving closer to him and biting my lip as I look up at his handsome face, my eyes shining. “You’re right. It’s perfect.”
And my perfect match smiles at me before leaning down and pressing a kiss to my mouth, so long that I sink into it, losing myself a little. So long that Rafe squeals in protest, playfully smacking Sinclair’s chest because he’s bored.
I laughed again and walked away, mumbling my apologies to Rafe as I snatched the crown off his head. “I’m so sorry, Prince,” I say, wrinkling my nose as he chuckled and reached for the small hoop. “But you’ll have to get used to sharing Mommy and Daddy.”
I go into the closet and pull out a newborn pajama set and a sleep sack for Ariel, who I know will want a nap soon. She’s making some restless little cries now, clearly hungry and still unsure how to communicate that desire over the course of bonding.
“Poor daughter,” I sigh, changing her as quickly as I can and then laying her down in Rafe’s old wheeled bassinet while I quickly change into something a little more comfortable and convenient for nursing. “Just a minute, then we’ll get you settled in.”
I do my best to keep my word and emerge from the closet in record time. I smile when I see Sinclair thanking one of the kitchen workers as they walk out the door, having delivered a cart full of food.
“Ah, Rafe’s favorite distraction,” I say, smiling at my mate and son as I move over to my nest and sit down in it, Ariel nestled comfortably in my arms. “Food!”
“He’s a hungry boy,” Sinclair says, smiling when Rafe actually reaches for the tray, almost moving out of his father’s arms as he does so. “But half of this is for you!”
“Oh!” I say, genuinely surprised, and then laugh and shake my head because of course I would forget to eat, so distracted am I by my love for my family. But I lean back against my pillows and lift my shirt, preparing a restless Ariel for her second feeding before I think about feeding myself.
“Yeah,” Sinclair murmurs, handing Rafe, his favorite, a slice of apple and wheeling the cart closer to me. “I thought you’d forget to eat.”
“I’m going to forget a lot of things over the next week,” I mutter, relaxing as Ariel turns on and smiles at me. “You’re going to be in overdrive, monitoring the nation and me.”
“Best duty I’ve ever had,” she sighs, placing Rafe in the small fold-out highchair we have in the corner of the room, pulling him closer to me and placing some snacks in front of him. I turn my head to smile at my son, glad he’s nearby too.
“Do you think Ariel will keep Rafe up all night?” I ask, suddenly curious. “She’ll be up every two hours…”
“Her,” Sinclair says, interrupting my train of thought as he sits on the edge of the bed and places a hand on my knee. “I want to talk about all of it, of course. But you really need to
“Tell me more about what happened when you were visited by the Dark God.”
“Oh,” I say, looking at him with a bit of sadness on my face. Because it’s not like it went out of my mind exactly – I was just… really enjoying ignoring it and enjoying the happiness of this moment.
“I know,” he sighs, leaning forward to cup my face with his palm. “But it’s been killing me, my love. Please.”
“Okay,” I reply, nodding, knowing he needs to hear it all. Then I take a deep breath and launch into the story.
