Alpha Dom and His Human Surrogate - Season 5 Episode 88
“I wonder what Rafe’s power is now,” I murmur as we unload Rafe’s baby carrier from the car early the next morning.
Cora and Roger stayed in their room for a few more minutes, but came down much happier and ready to celebrate. I watched them intently for a long time, checking if they were just putting on a good face for their guests, but honestly? From all I could see, they really decided to accept the good news the Goddess gave them.
It was a wonderful night and a bright morning.
But now? Now I want to go to sleep.
“I know what your gift is,” Sinclair says, putting an arm around my shoulders as we enter the palace.
“You do?” I gasp, looking up at his face. But then I frown when I see his smile and realize he’s joking. “Oh, liar.”
“Not really,” he says, raising his eyebrows at me. “The power the goddess gave him is just… beautiful.”
“What!?” I squeal, a little horrified, and my mouth drops open at this ridiculous idea.
“Come on!” Sinclair says, laughing and smiling at me. “Look how cute this kid is!” he continues, pointing at our son in his carrier, who is sleeping with a bit of drool dripping from the side of his mouth.
“Oh my God,” I moaned, quickening my steps and trying to get ahead of my ridiculous companion.
“I’m serious!” Sinclair pushes, laughing, easily catching up with me on his long legs. “Didn’t you see him in that vision, all grown up? He’s a handsome boy; it has to be his power.”
“Stop flattering yourself, Dominic,” I mutter, stepping into our elevator and pressing the up button with my thumb. “He looked just like you.”
“Precisely my point!” Sinclair says, wrapping his arm around my waist and pulling me close to his side as the elevator begins to rise, “he will bring nations to their knees with just his burning gaze…”

“Cover your ears, baby!” I call to Rafe and roll my eyes at Sinclair. “Your daddy will raise you to be vain and overly self-satisfied…”
“I want the boy to know the full extent of his power! He has to be prepared! He will have demigoddesses falling upon him too.
I can’t help it – I burst out laughing. “Stop!” I gasp, punching Sinclair in the chest. “We’re trying to raise a good kid, not an egomaniac!”
“But you’re not saying I’m wrong,” my partner says, smiling and cupping my face in his giant hand.
“Well, I don’t think it’s his gift,” I say, squinting as the doors slide open. I bite my lip, though. “But he really was handsome, wasn’t he? In the vision.”
“I’m telling you, Ella,” Sinclair says, smiling at me as we enter our hallway. “If it’s not a gift, it’s a curse. He’ll have to keep a fly swatter by his side at all times to keep the girls away from him…
I laughed again at the mental image, leaning hard against my partner as my cheeks and side begin to ache. We pass a few staff members in the hallway who smile brightly at us as we make our way down the hall to our door. Sinclair opens it and presses a warm hand to my back as I step inside.
“Honestly,” I say with a happy sigh, looking at our son, “I think maybe his gift from the Goddess is… sleeping soundly. Through it all.”
“He’s just used to his loud mother,” Sinclair sighs, placing a kiss on my cheek before I reach down to lift the baby out of his carrier.
“Don’t listen to anything Daddy says,” I murmur to my sweet, floppy baby as I take him in my arms. “He’s a very ugly liar tonight –“
“I’m not ugly!” he calls out from the closet because, of course, his alpha hearing picked up my private conversation with my son.
“It is,” I whisper, smiling at Rafe as I settle him against my shoulder and stand up to take him to the closet, intending to change him into pajamas. “And whatever I say, I owe your good looks to you.” This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

“Well, I’m not going to dispute that,” Sinclair says, pulling me against his half-naked body the moment I walk through the door.
“Wise man,” I say, standing on my toes to kiss him. Sinclair gives me a long, lingering slap on the behind before grabbing some pajama pants.
There’s a happy little silence in the closet as we all get ready for bed even though it’s about seven in the morning. These baptisms are exhausting, but there’s something
good to have a whole day of rest afterwards. As if the baby’s big day gives us all a little respite to sit and think about our world, our lives.

When we’re all ready, Sinclair and I give Rafe a kiss and then settle him into his little crib. I sigh after setting him down on the floor, crossing my arms over my chest. “Maybe we should take him to the nest tonight,” I murmur. “Keep him close while we can.”
“You can’t sleep with them every night,” Sinclair says softly, leaning down to kiss the side of my head, just above my ear.
“You’re just trying to stop me,” I growled. “Maybe I’ll gather all the kids with us in bed until they’re sixty…”
“That’s a bad idea,” my partner says, wrapping his arms around me and walking over to the bed, pulling me with him so that we both fall onto the mattress together. “You’ll traumatize them.”
“Fine,” I sigh, snuggling up with my mate in my cool, cozy nest. “So, just until they’re twenty.”
“It’s okay,” he agrees, leaning his head against my shoulder and playing with my hair with one hand, while the other runs down my side to caress my small belly. “How’s this one doing?”
“I think she’s okay,” I say, sighing happily. And then I bite my lip, turning my mind fully to my daughter for the first time tonight. “It was amazing to see her too, wasn’t it?”
“It was,” he murmurs. “What a gift it was to be Jesse’s godfather.”
“She’s so pretty,” I whisper, my voice crackling a little with excitement.
“She looks just like you,” Sinclair whispers, laughing.
“I know,” I say, laughing. “Just think he’ll have kings falling at his feet, nations collapsing under the weight of his fire…”
“Girls don’t burn,” he murmurs, laughing with me.
“This one will do,” I sigh, placing my hand over his on my stomach. “I think she’s going to be really special, Dominic,” I whisper.
“I think so too,” he whispers. And I smile, and snuggle up against my partner, and wrapped warmly in each other’s arms we fall asleep.
I am my wolf in my dreams this morning, running breathlessly through the woods, the wind whipping through my hair. I throw my head back and run for the pleasure of it. Sinclair is beside me, his own giant wolf keeping pace with me, and I bite at his side, teasing him, urging him to speed up.
He snaps his teeth at me playfully and complies, speeding past me, and behind him is a little brown puppy, yipping with joy as he chases his father’s tail. I laugh inside, joy coursing through my heart, watching Rafe and Sinclair leave.
But I don’t chase them, because close by my side is my little charge. She’s barely there, half visible, half substantial in the morning light filtering through the trees. But I can feel her, in my heart and in my bond. My little twin, a golden pink puppy, lifting her muzzle to the sky and howling with joy.
I wet my muzzle and give her a quick lick on the head, and she looks up at me with such happy eyes that they squint.
And then I run, with my daughter by my side, all morning.
